I need to use the rest of my healthcare spending account and my dr.'s office was closed all last week. Can I go to a place like Lenscrafters and would they be able to determine my Rx by looking at my glasses?

Yes They have a machine that does that, a Humphrey Refractor or some name like that. It is how the eyeglass manufacturer checks that the right lenses are going into the package to Lenscrafter and how Lenscrafters checks that they have put the right ones into your glasses

I think they prefer to have you pay their local optician to check your eyes but if you say no to that they can easily do it from the glasses themselves.

Yes they can tell you what you RX is for that pair of glasses. But don't you want a NEW RX? Why not have the lenscrafter doc give you an exam. Also, My flex account gives me until march to spend, are you sure that yours ends today?

Yes your prescription can be measured from your lenses.

I would not recommend Lenscrafters. My sister purchased a pair of glasses from them and one of the lenses was chipped. She took them back as soon as she noticed it the next day. They were extremely discourteous to her and told her that she would have to pay for the new lens herself.

I could understand if it was something she did, but that wasn't the case. There was no reason for the manager to be so rude to her either. Not a good way to conduct a business.

Yes they can tell. But, if you have been wearing those glasses for some time you should see an optometrist to see if that prescription needs to be changed. You may need a strong prescription.

They are 2 different prescriptions. You need to have an optometrist evaluate them.

The optician will put your glasses in a lensometer and read them. If you don't have prescribed prism (those who have it know they do) then the reading will be exact, its done alot in the eyewear industry, its called a neutralization. good luck!

yup they should be able to...maybe not at the office itself but they can probably at least send it away or something.

I'm sure they would first offer to examine your eyes to identify rather than sending your glasses away
