I have a friend who is a girl that I have known for about 9 years....we have been best friends for so long but we have never even talked about either of us ever liking each other. I mean we literally have just been friends. Well last night we were out drinking and talking about new years resolutions and she said something to the effect of "Next year you should dump your girlfriend and Start dating me" this literally came out of no where...and it shocked me. At first I thought she was joking around because we always say dumb stuff to each other but I think she was serious. and the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. Im not going to dump my girlfriend I love her more then anything and my friend likes her but I mean should I talk to her about it?

Try talking to her about her responce, when she is sober! You need to clear this up before proceeding in either relationship or it will haunt you down the road.

She has been your friend for so long because she likes you. People usually don't keep jerks or eh'holes in close company. So of course she would probably want to date you. Maybe someday you will get together with her...and now you will always think about it because she said something. I think if you talk to her about what she said it will make things awkward betwixt you and your friendship might not last. So....let it go like nothing was ever said.

Yes talk to her about it.... let her know that you enjoy having her as a friend and don't want to take the chance of ruining a great friendship by dating and that you really care for your current a lot.

No, don't talk to her about it. Just keep cool, and don't say anything. She was drunk. If by some chance you do dump your gf, then ask her out. In the meantime, just be her friend. Good luck!

well if u like ur girlfriend why would u dump her?ask ur friend who said u should dump ur girlfriend for her if she was jokeing if she was not jokeing say u love ur girlfriend and u don't want to dump her and say i am sorrying if i hurt ur feelings but i really love my girlfriend and i don't want to dump her

i was in this situation once, with the guy i liked
he ended up liking me too but he didnt want to ruin our friendship so he talked ot me about it
honestly, just tell her the truth and it should make it easier for both of you to get to grips on it all

talk to her when she is sober. don't tell your girlfriend. tell your best friend you really do love your girl and want to be just friends.
