I have been on buspar for almost three weeks. How long does it take to start working? Does it really work? I am also on prozac 40mg a day. I have bad anxiety!!!!! Any information?

Thanks,
Angel

I am surprised you havent had any other affevts from Buspar. I took it three times and it made me feel like a rabid pit bull. It was realy nasty stuff for me.
My point is it doesnt take long to have an effect.
Are you seeing a mental health professional?
If a regular MD is treating you with buspar he needs to stop

yes i use to take buspar and it was ok for me but i needed something more...Buspar is more of a downer like valium, and I had to be tested to find out more about my problem...I have more of a chemical imbalance so the doc put me on paxil and I have been taing it for about 3 years.I am doing very good and fell back to normal.......I would suggest you ask your doctor to try something other than prozac, maybe it is time for a change. If your prozac is not doing the trick then other options are available...I take 50mg of paxil ..............

I was prescribed Buspar two separate times. I took it faithfully both times - for several months. Honestly, I didn't get any relief ea. time. It just didn't work for me. No adverse reactions or anything - I just could not tell any difference at all.

you should be feeling some relief or its not the right dose, and possibly not the right med for you. i took buspar for a time. twice actually, i felt some relief, but i could not tolerate the side effects. and typically i can tolerate alot of "side effects".

you might need to try for a few more weeks. possibly go as high as 60 mg. if it doesn't work then forget it. see a psychiatrist if you aren't already. family docs don't like prescribing benzos
