first trim all the fat off the Butt. Then cut into large 3/4 pound chunks. Put in crock pot. Add in 6 cups of beef stock. One bottle of any store bought Barbeque sauce. One onion sliced, 4 cloves of garlic, couple table spoons of paprika and a couple of bay leaves. Cook on low heat for 12 hours or overnight. Use two forks and pull the meat apart.

Add apple cider vinegar - about 1/2 cup with equal parts water to a crock pot with some traditional BBQ seasonings - paprika, dry mustard, garlic, small amount of chili powder or cayenne, white/brown sugar to tastes, salt, pepper, or you can buy a pulled pork seasoning packet from Mc Cormick in the gravy/stock isle at the grocery store. Mix with liquid in the bottom of the pot and add the Boston Butt and slow cook for 8 hours. When finished it is cooking, take two forks and shred the meat.

1/8 c. honey
1/4 c. balsamic vinegar
2 T. Dijon mustard
1/4 c. barbecue sauce

Very simple. Put the pork in the crock pot with about a cup of water. Cook on low overnight. In the morning, pull the pork apart and remove all the fat. Add whatever spices you like. I add bbq sauce, onion & garlic powder, brown sugar and salt & pepper. YUM!

Yes you definitely need to add some liquid. What I do when I make pulled pork sandwiches is this: Poke holes in the thawed pork roast so the liquid can get in while it is in the slow cooker. Then I put my rub on the roast and put it in the slow cooker. I add about a cup and half of root beer to the pot and let it cook on low for about 7-8 hours. After that I drain some of the liquid, pull the pork with a fork, and add the bbq sauce. I let it simmer on low for about 30 minutes to an hour and then it is ready to eat. You could also add water, your favorite beer, or cola to the slow cooker instead of the root beer.

Crockpot Pulled Pork

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Tabasco or similar hot pepper sauce
3 to 4 pounds Boston Butt roast, trimmed, tied
few dashes liquid smoke, if desired
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground paprika
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons ketchup
8 hamburger buns heated
PREPARATION:
In a large non-metallic bowl, combine cider vinegar, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, and hot pepper sauce. Add the pork roast, cover, and marinate in refrigerator for at 6 to 10 hours. Turn occasionally to keep roast coated with marinade.

Remove the pork from the marinade, scraping the onion back into the marinade. Lightly pat the roast dry with paper towels. Pour the marinade into a slow cooker and add the Liquid Smoke. Place a slow cooker meat rack or ring of foil in the slow cooker.

Combine the sugar, salt, paprika, and pepper in a cup. Rub the pork roast with the seasoning mixture and place on the rack in crockpot.

Cover and cook on LOW for 7 to 9 hours, or until very tender. Transfer the pork to a cutting board; cover with foil to keep warm.

Skim the fat from the surface of the cooking liquid. Stir in the ketchup; pour into a bowl. Using 2 forks, pull the pork apart into shreds, or chop the pork into small pieces. Serve the pork on warm split buns with coleslaw, beans, or your choice of side dishes. Serve the sauce separately.

I wouldn't do it in a crock pot at all. I'd do it in a very low oven for 12-24 hours ( depending on weight ). In fact, thats how I did it a couple of months ago for a party. I flavoured it like Italian Porchetta with garlic, rosemary, thyme, lemon zest, fennel seeds and plenty of salt and pepper and it was pretty good ( I got a lot of complements anyway ).

This is really an Italian version rather than a traditional pulled pork recipe, but I do recommend it if you like this sort of thing.
