There are many sources to locate scholarship money. All are free to sign up and use to locate the scholarships. It takes time to hear back in some cases.

First, fill out the FAFSA form because it will tap into need based financial aid from the state and federal governments along with the college itself. This is based on both the total family income (parents and you) and resources (savings and investments).

Second, search Google.com and Yahoo.com for college grants from the state. This is need based, too.

Third, the high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships for its current high school students to apply for consideration.

Fourth, the college's financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships from outside sources such as a companies and organizations.

Fifth, the local public library has a book that lists scholarships, and some of them are not located on the internet.

Finally, join several free membership scholarship search websites. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on a form you complete on its website.

Good luck!

There are a lot of scholarships available. I suggest going to Google and conducting a search from there. I actually won a $5,000 scholarship about a year ago, and I recently found another contest by the same company for a $10,000 scholarship. It's free to enter, so there's no reason not to.

Usually the university itself is the best place to get the scholarship from (it just means they give you lower tuition than everyone else basically). This is a result of your GPA, SAT/ACT Scores, your resume (as in extracurricular activities listed on there and charities), etc.
