BT has a service called anonymous call rejection which costs £4 per month. this works even if your calls are with another company. They should only refer you to the other company if your line rental is with the other company.
If you know anyone who withholds their number automatically you can advise them to release it by prefixing 1470 in front of your number to release it.
If you make calls through BT you can also get caller display for free and you could try signing up for the telephone preference scheme http://www.tpsonline.org.uk

Dial *77. That is "anonymous call rejection" which will reject all of those calls. It sends a message to the caller like "This number rejects calls from withheld numbers. Call back with blocking disabled if you wish to reach them."
If you ever change your mind you can deactivate that blocking with *87.

I had a quandary like this to my phone cell - I called the police, and so they gave me a wide variety to enter on the phone every time they often called which put a hint on the avenue. After a few times of coming into the number after the prank calls, they have been competent to contact my mobilephone manufacturer and discover the variety the calls were coming from. I would begin with submitting a proper criticism with legislation enforcement. You would with ease name the cellphone enterprise and change the quantity, nonetheless they might fee you to take action. If in case you have taken steps related to submitting the complaints they would have some variety of coverage to waive the costs. Nonetheless, should you might simply capture them and get the persons in mission, you wouldn't must go by way of the obstacle of fixing the cell wide variety!

This should come from your service provider, not your line provider. I had this problem but insisted that my service provider put a block on with held numbers they did and it worked.

Even when you use *77 you still get the unavailable numbers. Try call intercept. You get it through your phone company. If someone blocks their # they'll still have to leave their name to get through.
