Suppose He appeared as an ordinary man concerned with modern day problems (i.e. calling for justice and unity, advocating an end to extreme poverty and starvation in a world of plenty, degradation of our planet Earth and our quality of life through greed, intense competition and division). Would this be so hard to vision? Consider the fact that 2,000 years ago Christ talked about the problems of the day and in terms everyone could understand (i.e. fishermen and the mostly illiterate masses).

This is a question to open your mind a little so please give some thought and leave out the sarcastic comments...I think it is quite relative to what's about to happen...

Due to someone's remark, I think it's necessary to say I did also mean Maitreya Buddha, Messiah, Imam Mahdi, Kalki Avatar....whatever name you have for your tradition. I certainly did not intend for this to be religious or Christian so much as a general World Savior type question.

I do not believe most of his so called followers would recognize him. He would not be among the political power brokers or the rich. He would be down on skid row helping the homeless and the drug addicts and prostitutes. That is what he did in his time if you believe he was an actual person. He was not judgmental of the poor and he did not associate with the people in power.

This is weird because yesterday I gave this a lot of thought. As Americans I think we shut our mind and hearts to someone other than an American coming forth as the Savior of today and consider..a man from an Arab country.....when you picture Christ he looked more like a modern day Arab than someone from any other country.
But with all going on in Iraq, questions of whether we are actually in the right, the hanging yesterday, then my thoughts are influenced by that too.
Can't wait to read the other answers.

I would definately hope so. I think in all honesty that He sends His angels for this purpose. The bible says to never turn anyone away that needs help because you may be entertaining an angel. Jesus will come back in the clouds at the end of the world. I know I will recognize Him then.

If a Messiah came down today and lived amongst us, no one would believe them, unless they could show an act of God, i.e., move a mountain. Most are set in their own beliefs and are not open to enlightenment. Children only know what they were taught, but were they taught correctly?

If he appeared as an ordinary man thats because that is what he would be, just like the historical Jesus of 2,000 years ago, simple really.

Although Jesus will not walk the earth as a human again, he will rule from heaven, we are told to look for the sign of his presence and we are told what his Kingdom (government) will do for the earthly subjescts of that Kingdom...

Matthew 24: 3- : "While he was sitting upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: “Tell us, When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?”

4 And in answer Jesus said to them: “Look out that nobody misleads YOU; 5 for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. 6 YOU are going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that YOU are not terrified. For these things must take place, but the end is not yet.

7 “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. 8 All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress.

9 “Then people will deliver YOU up to tribulation and will kill YOU, and YOU will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name. 10 Then, also, many will be stumbled and will betray one another and will hate one another. 11 And many false prophets will arise and mislead many; 12 and because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off. 13 But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. 14 And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come."

Isaiah 9: 6 & 7: "
For there has been a child born to us, there has been a son given to us; and the princely rule will come to be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. 7 To the abundance of the princely rule and to peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom in order to establish it firmly and to sustain it by means of justice and by means of righteousness, from now on and to time indefinite. The very zeal of Jehovah of armies will do this."

Daniel 7: 13& 14: "
“I kept on beholding in the visions of the night, and, see there! with the clouds of the heavens someone like a son of man happened to be coming; and to the Ancient of Days he gained access, and they brought him up close even before that One. 14 And to him there were given rulership and dignity and kingdom, that the peoples, national groups and languages should all serve even him. His rulership is an indefinitely lasting rulership that will not pass away, and his kingdom one that will not be brought to ruin."

Daniel 2:44: " “And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite;"

Isaiah 35: 5 & 6: " At that time the eyes of the blind ones will be opened, and the very ears of the deaf ones will be unstopped. 6 At that time the lame one will climb up just as a stag does, and the tongue of the speechless one will cry out in gladness. For in the wilderness waters will have burst out, and torrents in the desert plain."

Isaiah 25: 8: " He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces. And the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for Jehovah himself has spoken [it]."

Careful, sir. The Bible says that even the elect will be deceived. Jesus, as the suffering servant, our Messiah, has already come and died for our sins. Someone, like who you are describing, is to come, and it will be the anti-christ.

Of course I would recognize Him.

They showed me many pictures of Him when I was a short guy and they dragged me to their church every Sunday.

He looks like a Hippie.

Opps, gotta go, He just passed by my window.

When Christ dwells inside you, there is no need to see Him to believe in Him.
