Pain killers is about the only thing. It will ease up within a few days. I agree with Aundrea it's going to be tough on her so give her a little bell or something for when she needs you. Keep a pitcher of water or tea beside her and make her cozy either in bed or the living room...preferrably on a floor where she doesn't need to use the stairs to go to the bathroom.
If it's really hard for her to get around you may even want to get her a bed pan or rent a portable commode (like a wheelchair with a hole and pan in it). Men have it a lot easier...*S*

Make sure that she gets plenty of rest. The only thing she should be doing is sitting or lying with her leg up so she'll need your help fetching and carrying and with stuff around the house. The best thing you can do for her right now is to make sure that she is comfortable.
I hope she gets better soon, breaking a leg is an awful thing to go through and it's nice of you to want to help.

Make sure she takes the pain killers she was prescribed and help her keep it elevated. I broke both of my legs and the elevation helps with the broken nerves. Good Luck!

Make sure she keeps it elevated. Beyond that, only time will help. She should take her pain killers and try to sleep away as much of the time as she can for the first week.

Ibuprofen (like Motrin or Advil) and NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like Aleve work much better than Tylenol (acetaminophen) for pain and swelling in these types of injuries. Use those OTC drugs unless her doctor prescribed something. Let her rest and make her stay off of it.
