I need to know, in East Texas, about how much it would cost to take all 7 (yes 7!) pups to the vet?

I recently lost another pup and I'm afraid for the rest. What do I do?! I don't currently have a job and am barely able to feed them right now. But, I'm putting in applications all over town.

By the way, the lost pup wasn't from this litter. The people who gave us the puppy neglected to tell us that they kept the dog INDOORS the entire time they had her. In my area, with winter coming, the nights are cold and damp. Ultimately, the shock of going from warm and cozy to extremely cold and wet got her.

We've got shots covered, will be administering next week. My brother knows how to give the shot and we know where to get them for a total $50 for all pups.

Ok, the skin is not discoloring, but small pathes of fur are missing and it looks similiar to very shallow flesh wounds. But, these puppies have been in a pen, so none of the dogs that act mean towards them can get to them.

Ok, so maybe I over dramatized the feeding bit. I can feed them and they are being well fed, though as one person mentioned, it is with the cheaper brands of food.

As for the wet and cold situation, these are not indoor breed dogs! Nor was the lost pup, which was, to the best of our knowledge, a full blood Chow Chow (or at least that is what she looked like) All these dogs have thick fur! They are good outdoor dogs, all my puppies are in the makes for great hunting dogs.

The pups are happy. The skin irritation doesn't even seem to bother them in the least...

sounds like you need to give the pups up. If they have any major medical issues you will not be able to afford it and that is NOT fair to the puppies. Giving your own vaccinations is a good way to MISS major health issues that a vet could identify. So if you can't afford to take them to the vet to have them vaccinated then don't bother keeping the pups.

ok the only one who can tell you the cost of the vet visit is the vet office - call around...
food is usually a contributor of skin problems - cheap (grocery store and Wal Mart food) food contains alot of filler which cause skin problems.. I suspect this is part of the problem

or it can be breed related - Pits often have skin problems as do some inbred dogs...

you want to help them?? take them to a shelter and relinquish your rights to them so the shelter can help them - sadly at this point in your life you are not prepared to deal with 7 pups with health issues - they still need to be vet checked -vacccinated - and dewormed...

Not sure how much it will cost there, but its gonns be a lot...Your best bet is to call as many shelters around and tell them yur situation, hopefully they can help. They can also help u find a home for them. Pets take A LOT of time and money, and not to be mean, but 7 is way to much for anyone, let alone someone without a job. I have two and my hubby and I both work, and its tough at times for us. We spend around $2000 a year on our dogs...So please dont be selfish (I know u have a kind heart) but give them to someone who can afford them..Good luck

Talk to a Country type Vet. Clinic and explain your situation....see if they can give you a litter discount. If they all have the same thing...maybe they will only have to check one or two...but you are looking at puppy shots at 6 weeks...deworming....Just plead your story and hopefully someone will have a heart.

Give me as many thumbs down for this as you would like, I honestly don't care. I have never been rude to anyone in my life but in your case I'm going to speak my mind. Don't even get me started on your lost puppy, I don't think even a complete idiot would think it was ok to place a puppy outside in the "wet & cold" atmosphere. I hope someone does it to you for one night, & see how you like it.

Secondly, you shouldn't have SEVEN dogs now if according to you you can "barely afford to feed them". Seriously, there are people out there willing to give these dogs the homes they deserve. I hope someone reports you.

Call the local humane society and tell them your situation. They may be able to put you in contact with a vet or other program that can help you out.
