Can someone tell me if I have Colon Cancer or some kind of colon problems?

I'm 22 and I'm a female. For years, I have been getting this sharp pain in my colon that comes and goes every now and then. I can say I probably experience this 12 times per year (spread out throughout the year). The pain feels like my colon is probably contracting or maybe like it's being stabbed by a knife, because it is very sharp feeling. It can come out of the blue, while I'm lying down, standing, or sitting and it stays for maximum of 5 seconds maybe.

I've never inserted anything into that area and I don't ever use it for anything except bowel movements. I've never had hemerroids or any rectal bleeding or anything. I still have not gone to get it checked out. I looked up Colon Cancer symptoms on the internet and the symptom that I have is not among them, so I am really confused as to what may be happening.

If this symptom may sound familiar to you can you please share with me what it may be? :^(

Most cancers are not painful so it is highly unlikely that it is colorectal cancer.

Because of it's frequency, you may want to consider a more "female" reason. Oftentimes there is "referred pain" when talking about internal structures, where pain is felt in another area than the actual problem.

You said it happened about 12 times a year which may mean it is related to your hormone levels and/or menstrual cycle. Consider ovarian cysts or other Gyn possibilities, but you can probably not worry about the big "C"

Sheesh, it sounds like you aren't having any fun. Hemorrhoids are common in pregnancy, but at 9 weeks along I would be skeptical that you'd have them because of the increasing pressure of your uterus, which is the most common cause. That generally doesn't happen until later in pregnancy. Another common cause is constipation, which is something else that's very prevalent during pregnancy, even in the early weeks. If you've been straining at all, you could have worsened them. I had a really bad constipation problem at 13 weeks and got hemorrhoids out of nowhere - and I've had them ever since. Occasionally they flare up and bleed, but most of the time they're just there. Given your family history, I'd definitely ask to get the problem checked out before it gets any farther. Until you can get in for that, keep the area VERY clean - the last thing you want is an infection or an abscess. My doctor said Preparation H was fine, as are medicated pads like Tucks - you can leave those on for 15 minutes at a time if you want and they will help soothe the burning. Your OB can also prescribe safe suppositories for the pain. Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy, hope you feel better soon.

I agree with David, but you may also be experiencing symptoms of an inflamed appendix as well.

Pain is a sure sign you should be checked out by a doctor.

Ultimately....I'd see a dr. In the meantime, you could try a natural colon cleanse. I took a series of pills....all natural from GNC. It took about three weeks, but I haven't had the problems that I was having since. The cost was about $30.

You need to go and get this checked out. Why make yourself nuts worrying about something without having a clue what you're worrying about? GO TO YOUR DOCTOR!

That disease would be highly unusual at your age.
