You do not need a capture card to get the audio and video from your camcorder into a computer if you have a computer with Windows XP and an IEEE 1394 port. When you connect the camcorder to the computer, Windows will recognize the camcorder and you can transfer your audio and video into the computer using Windows Movie Maker or most video editing programs. If your computer does not have an IEEE 1394 port, a PCI card with IEEE 1394 ports is very inexpensive.

The Panaconic NVGS27 is a MiniDV camcorder. all yo ureally need is a Firewire port on your PC. While I'm a big fan of Pinnacle, Window Movie Maker will do in a pinch and its free.

If you don't already have a Firewire port on your PC, my best advice is to go buy a new PC. The amount of upgrading you'll have to do to the old one to make it work satisfactorily isn't worth the expense. It's much cheaper to buy a new PC.
