No but the lead poisoning that was rampant in Roman territories around the time that the bible was compiled has me wondering.

I think what he is trying to say is if you knew for a fact that most of the people of that time were impaired by either mercury or lead poisoning. Would you rethink how you felt about the crazy walking on water or moving the Red sea aside to pass it, and things of that nature. I for one think most would, when you run into a drunk person and he tells a story whats the first thing you think of? "WOW I believe you" or " your just a drunk fool that does not even know what day of the week it is let alone anything else at this moment" I know for sure I would rethink it if I believed the bible or any other holy book.

Lead poisoning was common at this time becaus many cooking and eating utensiles were made from lead. Clay pots that held wine were also decorated with a lead glaze. Lead pipes were also used to convey drinking water.
I have never heard of a problem with mercury poisoning.
This problem had nothing to do with a person's religion, ethnic or geographical backgrounds. Many suffered from this poison all over the world and still do. Some US municipalities still have water systems that contain lead pipes. Clay pots containing lead glazing were only recently banned from import to the US.
I do not understand the connection you are trying to make about faith. You could be an atheist. Christain, Jew, rich or poor and still suffer from lead poisoning,

I'm a bit confused. You think religious leaders of the present time period are more sane than ones with mercury poisoning? Have you actually watched some televangelists lately?

There was certainly suffering during the time of Christ. Just because it wasnt mercury poisoning is meaningless IMO.

Only if it could be proved that the Scriptures, from Genesis to the Revelation, could be proved to be written by poisoned scribes. It can't so this case is closed. BTW, I consider my faith everyday.
