I know she does it for attention, but how do I get her to stop? She does it in the middle of the night.

If your cat is older -

I think this crying has to do with his going senile. Feline Cognitive Dysfunction (CD) is very similar to human Alzheimer's. In cats, crying and howling are one of the most common symptoms. As the disease progresses, some cats experience litter box problems, disorientation, failure to recognize familiar people and sometimes even hallucinations or unprovoked aggression.

See your vet about l-deprenyl.

If it's a younger cat she might be in heat.

I thouht this an interesting question and I tried to think of reasons why cats might cry. I checked a few sites and found this one interesting. If it doesnt work you can always try the first answerers suggestion,lol!

my cat does thee same thing i don't think there is any thing you can do to stop it but give her attention!!!! sorry
