The amoxicillin might not be strong enough. An ER visit might not be warranted unless you really are losing hearing. But, get with your doc ASAP becuase the bug you have may need a stronger antibiotic to kill it. A doc can also prescribe a decongestant to help with the clogged nose and stuffed up ears. Once, a doc gave me the medrol pack because the sinus infection was so bad.
To help you feel better while you wait on your meds and body to heal, you can drink hot liquids, use steam, etc. to clear your sinus tracts. If your cough hurts, talk with the pharmacist and get some cough syrup to soothe your symptoms.
When you cal your doc, tell of your temp and if you cough up mucus, what color it is.
Take care and good luck

If you've seen a doctor and gotten meds recently you need to be patient and let the meds work. Stay in bed and stay warm. Sinus issues often affect hearing, so if you have just started medicating the ear and you aren't in great pain from it give the meds a chance to kick in.
If you've been on meds for a while, and your ear is really bothering you, you should go back to the doc.
If this is a cold or flu, my favorite 'remedy' follows. This is not a cure, it's a treatment for symptoms that will help you feel better.
8 oz. hot water
Juice of 1 lemon
1TB honey (or to taste)
1 ts to 1 oz. brandy, depending on time of day and other meds.
tiny pinch cayenne (optional)
The water warms and relaxes you.
The lemon provides vit. c and helps with sinus issues.
The honey coats your throat and provides micronutrients.
The brandy warms and relaxes you.
The cayenne helps heat up your system.
After three, if you don't feel better, you don't care.
OK for kids without the brandy.

How long have you been taking the medication? It takes about three days for it to kick in. If it's been longer than that and your infected ear is giving you allot of pain you should go to the emergency room. A badly infected ear that is not taken care of could cause damage to your eardrum. GO.

Have you been taking the amoxicillin long enough for it to work? If you've been taking it for several days with no improvement, you need to call your doctor to see about different meds. If you just started taking it, you need to give it some time.

Flush the ear out with a 50% Peroxide 50% warm water solution then have someone preferabley a doctor look in it with an Otoscope. You may have a punctured ear drum.

The antibiotics should be working to get rid of your ear infection. If you're losing your hearing, then you need to get to the E.R. immediately so you can possibly get your hearing restored, and maybe get a stronger dose of meds.
