It's not "genetic." That's a whining of The Homosexual Agenda, in order to gain an elite minority status based upon chosen behavior, as well as ridiculous special rights.
That would be like me (a gambler) saying that I have the gambling gene, and therefore I make demands upon society to conform to my ways.

All living beings have both a "genotype" (raw genetics) and a "phenotype" (the interaction of the raw genetics with the environment). Also, nothing evolves in a vacuum. The genes themselves are the product of the interaction of an organism with the environment in which it lives. That is, only organisms that produce offspring (or contribute to the success of offspring) will leave their genes for the next generation. It is a dialectical relationship. So the anwer, necessarily, is that it is "both," but not necessarilly 50%/50% for any particular trait, behavioral or physical.
The human organism has evolved to allow for a very wide range of behaviors that quite "elastic" (meaning they can have a very wide expression). Sexual behavioral "norms" have varied quite a bit throughout human history, from group marriage to polyandry, polygyny and monogamy.
So while there is, has been and always will be a certain amount of cultural relativity, that does not mean that one cannot stand up and fight for the things in which one believes.
As far as whether homosexuality is genetic, it seems to be. I am heterosexual and could "choose" to have sex with a man, but I have no desire to, so I don't. There is no social pressure for me to do that which makes it even easier not to. For me to "choose" to have homosexual sex would take a great EXTERNAL force and is therefore not likely to be my inherent, genetic makeup.
However, for gay people (men and women), they "choose" to have sex with others of the same sex because they DO desire that. It is INTERNAL and therefore most likely coming from inherent, genetic forces.
Just because homosexual people (men especially -- women could always be artificially inseminated) do not go on to produce offspring of their own does not mean that there cannot be a genetic basis for the existence of that tendency. Human genetics is EXTREMELY complex and we are just beginning to understand it. So to declare that homosexuality cannot be genetic is a premature delclaration at best and probably incorrect.

I'm not aware of ANYONE on the liberal/left who claims that homosexuality is entirely genetic. So please stop making up false claims and prentending they came from somebody else.
Like ANY human behavior, homosexuality is most likely a combination of heredity, genetics, environment, upbringing, and possibly other factors. Does that mean it's a "choice?" Do you have a "choice" about being an intolerant bigot? Many of the same indicators of the combination of genetics and environment about homosexuality also point to the same causes for things like bigotry...
So, I'll tell you what: I'll think about starting to believe that homosexuality is a "choice" when I see people like you prove they can "choose" to stop being intolerant bigots. Go ahead, prove it. Then maybe we'll listen to you.
Bottom line though: even if it is a "choice", so what? Why are you so concerned about the sexual habits of other people? What business is it of yours? What if I decide that anyone who has sex in the missionary position is sinning against MY god, and I start persecuting YOU for doing so? Is anybody's sexual preferences or habits any of my business?

Once again, people who know absolutely nothing about human sexuality spout off at the mouth. Tell ya what, why don't you go do some real research instead of just blindly following what people tell you something is.
It is known that there is learned behavior and hardwired behavior. Sexual attraction is not something you learn, it simply is. Can anyone in here say that their parents "taught" them to be attracted to a particular sex? Maybe you learned it on TV?.
Pedophilia is classified as a mental disorder.
I guess the homosexuals of the world should stop what is normal for them because it makes you uncomfortable, since that is what your beef is about really, you just use your little holy book to cover your "ick" factor.

First off, an attraction to children is a lot different than an attraction to someone of the same sex. Are you saying that all homosexuals are pedophiles? Now to say that you are attracted to children of the same sex may fall into the category of homosexuality, but to take advantage of the innocence of a child is wrong. Is it illegal for two consenting adults to have sexual relations? As far as your free will inspired choice concept goes, it's like I said earlier, choose to be gay. I know I would if I could. It would be a lot simpler than trying to understand the delicate inner machinations of the opposite sex. Bisexuality is no different. There are people born without a defined sense of sexual preference. How do you explain that someone would choose to be persecuted?

I don't know who you're arguing against ("leftists"?), but if you have a clue as to what specifically causes homosexuality, science would very much like to know. Because today, we don't.
However. You seem to say that it is to some degree a choice. Does that mean that you, at some point in time, decided whether to be gay or straight? Because I didn't, I just one day realized that I really enjoyed looking at girls. My gay friends say the very same thing (but the other way, obviously).
So the "choice" in this case is merely the acknowledgment of what you already were to begin with. Denying your homosexuality would be choosing "no" while accepting it would be choosing "yes". Sort of like choosing to pretend to be right handed, just to fit in. Disregarding some people's interpretation of the Bible, what's the point of that? Unlike pedophilia, we're talking about mutual feelings between adults. It's true love, baby! Embrace it!

It is unresolved. A negative cannot be proven. Until a genetic link is established, one cannot say positively that it is NOT genetic. It is like saying "Alcoholism is genetic." No one can find a gene to prove that but also no one can disprove it. It gives a great opportunity to people like gays and lesbians and alcoholics and pedophiles to say that they are genetically programmed. They don't have to produce any proof. It is up to others to prove them wrong. This is a good strategy to call anything 'genetic'.

Sexuality is NOT a BEHAVIOR. You don't learn sexuality in a Skinner box, you don't learn sexual attraction by watching other people. Grow up and learn a little before you start making generalizations. You're just reading like an ignorant, arrogant twit, especially by comparing it to pedophilia. You can't even get the terminology correct.

Well they say they are born with it or some excuse to excuse sin, but a sex drive does nto kick in until they are teens so if they are attracted to the opposite sex before then, then the dsyfunction of the family or being sesually abused played a part pr just plain old sin that they refused to ignore, and I think sometimes they just chose to be that way. Liek some people chose to try Meth and then they are addicted to it.

Homosexuality is genetic, and so are peodophillic tendencies and my own love of t*ts and p*ssy. But we all have to choose to do these things. At the same time my old friend who was gay couldn't choose to be attracted to girls. If he could have he would have because realising you are gay at 13 wasn't easy for him.

the two. immediately's cultural gender function for women is to place off marriage and childbearing in favour of school and a occupation. that is what's anticipated and it surprises many human beings while a youthful lady chooses in yet differently. in spite of the indisputable fact that, many many women nonetheless seem to experience the would desire to have young ones and be abode with them. i understand certainly one of those great form of ladies who artwork with the aid of fact they'd desire to and could provide something to be waiting to be at-abode mothers. it is likewise a starting to be vogue at present for youthful expert women to leave their careers to develop into at-abode mothers. i could say that regardless of our way of existence's roles, many women nonetheless have a genetically-desperate gender function that supplies them the prefer to nurture and guard youthful. i think of the comparable holds genuine for adult males. way of existence performs a evaluate our roles yet genetics do too. i think of genes play a bigger function than society.
