Pros and cons for moving to Edmonton Alberta?

I'm from the east coast someone said there all snobby there?Then someone else said there was a shortage of housing ?Any info would be good thanks

There are lots of people from the east coast who live in Edmonton now. Edmonton is NOT snobby at all! Everyone there is very friendly and you are bound to run into people from all over the place there.

Pros - the summers are AWESOME, lots of festivals, West Edmonton Mall, Whyte Ave, the city has lots of team spirit for the Eskimos and Oilers, the river valley is beautiful, lots of jobs, good schools (public, colleges, and university)

Cons - the winters are dark and freezing, West Edmonton Mall, Whyte Ave, housing is getting expensive and vacancy rates are low, traffic is getting bad with all the new communities

I don't live there anymore, but I do miss Edmonton!

The pros: Edmonton is a fast growing city. There are plenty of well paying jobs available. The taxes are lower. It's a very well organized city.

The cons: Since you're from the East you probably wont like the political situation. Housing prices are very high. In all the times I've been to Edmonton the people haven't seemed snobby, but they're probably more snobby then the people are where you live.

From one site on the web it seems like a charming place that is well taken care of, but you can't go by that. There are many things to learn about Edmonton Alberta on the web, with many sites. The best way is to take the time and see for yourself. When you are planning to live there it's best to know first hand. Other people's views may not be the same. It all depends in what you like.

I liked Calgary better. But I'm from the east coast too.
Like Philly and Pittsburgh. Edmonton has the Oilers, if you like the NHL. Calgary has the Stampede. Either way, it's pretty.
