I believe God can be called "The Divine Carpenter". It is quite fitting if you ask me. But, Joseph, Jesus Christ's earthly father was a carpenter. That is what is being referred to.

Very few people know that Jesus is the one and only Son of God even today.
Only those who didn't believe in Jesus purpose of coming to earth and were offended by Him called Him the carpenters son:

Joseph,the earthly care taker/father of Jesus was a carpenter....this assignment given by God was to raise Jesus as a boy until He was old enough to proceed into His heavenly role

God was not a carpenter, you are right about that. But, Jesus did have an earthly father. When God put the baby in Mary's womb, she was engaged to a man named Joseph. The angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph and told him about it and still told him to marry Mary. Joseph did marry her and it says in the bible that they refrained from having sexual contact until after she gave birth to Jesus. Jesus grew up in a household with Mary and Joseph(his earthly father) Joseph was a carpenter and Jesus worked with him when he was old enough.

Haha...geez, and this has been in front of my eyes for like many years and I haven't even noticed it! Well done! Anyways, I'm guessing people started to say he was the son of a carpenter because he was somehow a child of Joseph! Let's just say he was the stepson of a carpenter!

Jesus was a human, just like you and I are. Christ is God's son. Jesus was endowed with the Christ, so God was with him. Jesus' earthly father was a carpenter, while Christ's heavenly Father is God.
