not so much a sting, but rather an intense pain that soon subsides 20 sec after the strip is removed. the hard part is preparing yourself (mentally) for the next strip to be removed. After the third time you get an area waxed, the hair folicules are looser and it doesn't hurt as much.

do it! It's well worth the pain. The pain only lasts a second or two. After the waxer rips away the strips they put pressure to the area to decrease the pain. Besides...you're only getting the bikini area waxed. Just think if you had a Brazilian! (that's the whole thing, btw. )

The disadvantage to waxing, whether its done at home or at a salon, is that it is painful. If you have sensitive skin, or are overly skittish when it comes to even the slightest amount of pain, try Surgi Bikini Relief before and after waxing. Formulated with 2% Lidocane (to numb), Aloe Vera (to soothe) and Cocoa Butter & Avocado Oil (to moisturize), this lotion helps to eliminate any discomfort that may arise from waxing, while it relieves skin irritation, dryness and ingrown hairs.

The first time will hurt (don't let anyone tell you otherwise) because you've never experienced it before. However, if you have a good technician (always do your research) he/she can help reduce the pain. You can take a tylenol or ibuprofin before you go, also, which will help. Do not take asprin. Before the technician puts on the wax, he/she should put a light coating of baby powder on your skin to prevent the wax sticking to your skin (it will still stick to your hair, but not your skin) If he/she doesn't do this, make sure to ask. Afterwards, they will put a soothing lotion, gel or sometimes baby oil, (but baby oil is bad, because it clogs pores) on your skin to reduce redness and add cooling.

Pull a single hair out of your head. If it hurts up there, it will hurt down there! Hair and skin is the same, no matter where on your body. I have great respect for any woman who does waxing. Pain can be intense.

It hurts, yet underarm hurts extra. i might get it completed professionally with warm wax however, because of the fact it opens the pores so hurts much less and save bought chilly wax strips are probable the main painful technique.

The first time will always hurt for everything. But once you do it 2 or 3 times you will get used to it.
