Nope, it can not be predicted who the dog will bond with. The only factor that definitively improves chances for bonding is that dogs are most likely to bond with the human they perceive as the leader. The leader is also often the caretaker, although many people will coddle and spoil and make fuss over their dogs to get them to "love" them more, but this will frequently backfire because in dog world, it's the more submissive of two dogs who will approach the other dog for attention. Whoops!
Still, a dog may choose to bond with whomever he or she just "clicks" with. I'm the clear "alpha" in my house, and one dog is bonded to me like mad, one dog is pretty evenly bonded with myself and my partner though he listens to me more reliably, and the third dog listens to me most reliably but is bonded like crazy to my partner and she is the one he will follow from room to room. I don't know what it is between them, but they had a special relationship from the first minute and that's one of the reasons we chose to adopt him... makes for nice balance in the house.
If you want a dog to bond with you, your best bet will still be to be the one to feed the dog, walk the dog, and otherwise care for the dog, and also to do training with the dog even if the training is just little tricks like Shake and Speak.

I have a female and she loves my boyfriend more than me. It really depends on who the dominent person of the household is. The pack leader is always idolized. Since the dog you already have is a "daddy's boy" if you get a female chances are it will be the same way.

most dogs (except the ones that have been abused by a male or female) prefer the male of the household. They pick out which one is in charge, and think of him/her like the alpha male. Kind of like wolves in a pack. there is only one in charge, with the alpha female. Your dog would probably go with the dad, but would still listen and love you too!

dont think it really matter. my old dog loved women and was always wary of men, he was badly treated and abused before we got him, so maybe thats the reason he always nervous and timid around men, only my step grandad was only man he adored, and he was a real old style gentleman.
whereas our new dog just goes with whoever will benefit her the most, whether its food, walks or cuddles on the sofa, she heads for that person.
dogs do tend to pick a certain person within the house to be their best buddy or partner, but i dont think it matter on gender of dog or person. me and my old dog were best buddies , he always choose me over anyone else, whereas the new pup never really bonded with me at all, firstly it was my step dad as he took her from his mother and other litter pups, and more recently she has moved on to my mum as she has gotten older.

to me it seems that the boy dogs like the head female in the house and the girl dog like the head male in the house. but I think if you get a dog male or female and you are its main care giver, it will love you!!!

A dog's favourite person is usually it's main care giver - the person who grooms, walks, plays with, trains and feeds it. Dogs develop their closest relationship with the person who trains and walks them, male or female, doesn't matter.

We've always found that the females go to my husband and the males are "mummy's boys". Not sure why this is, but it's not a hard and fast rule.

It all depends on the personality of the animal and the person . Animals can tell if you are a good or bad person .

I have a papillon, and she likes my fiance and me the same, but when I take her places, to my sisters or to my parents, she tends to follow my dad or my brother in law around.
