What do vertical nail ridges signify?

I have these ridges and I've been told it's a sign of a thyroid problem which I do have. Below is a link that lists nail problems and possible conditions that have that problem.

You may have a small growth and the bottom of your nail. They can be removed but doesn't have to. See a doctor and see what they say.
