No, a traffic ticket is a violation which can result in a fine or penalty. A jail term or an arrest can result in failure to pay the fine or penalty. It is not the ticket that is the violation, but the failure to follow the magistrates order of payment. Your lack of respect for the judge would result in a warrant being issued for your arrest. Failing to appear would still not get you arrested. You would not get arrested until the warrant were issued and you were subsequently stopped again. IF you had a warrant out for you in NY and you were not in NY, you might not be aware of the warrant even after being stopped by police.
If you became aware of the warrant, and paid off the fine, then the warrant would be repealed and you could avoid being arrested.
Traffic violations short of vehicular manslaughter & DUI are not felonies. while they may affect your insurance rates, they do not affect your ability to gain employment, unless you job requires you to have a valid driver's license.

It truly depends on the laws in your area and the offense that you are being cited for. You can be arrested without the actual use of handcuffs. It's called a cite and release. You get a citation that is the same as being arrested and you are given a court date. For a mere traffic offense you will be given a non-criminal citation and an amoutn to pay or a court date. If you fail to pay the fine for the ticket or fail to appear then a warrant will be issued for your arrest and once you are found you will have an even more severe punishment then you would have had if you had just done as you were instructed in the first place.

Concerning a traffic ticket you get stopped and you get a ticket, so you either pay it or set a court date, and if you do not want to sign it at the moment you are being issued the ticket, you could be arrested, signing the ticet is not an admission of guilt, just that you acknowledge receiving the ticket. And if you set a court date and not show up then the judge issues a bench warrant for your arrest.

No the courts just think "Well I guess he had better things to do...no big deal"
In case you really dont know. The answer to the first question is no the 2 are not the same.
To the 2nd question the answer is yes. Judge will issue a bench warrant and they will either wait till you get stopped again or come to the house and pick you up.
In the long run you will end up paying like 4x as much if you get arrested.

Recieving a ticket is getting a peice of paper saying that you need to appear in court and pay your fine. Being arrested is being taken to jail. If you fail to appear to your court case then the judge will issue a warrant for your arrest for the cause of Failure to Appear.

Depending on what kind of ticket you have - speeding, reckless, etc. you may not even have to appear...you can pay the fine and they'll send you a receipt which I suggest you carry in your glove compartment in case the computer doesn't keep up with another police stop. If the ticket says you have to appear, show up to fight it or plead guilty.....you'll only get "arrested" by failure to appear. If you were going to be arrested, you would have been hauled away at the scene.

First, it would depend on the type of traffic violation. DUI, outstanding warrant, major injury to another person, the list continues. Second, you would know if you were arrested. Typical traffic tickets usually do not involve being arrested.

If you want to be technical.....yes. A traffic citation is considered a non-criminal infraction. There are some that are considered criminal (i.e. DUI, Reckless, Leaving the Scene of an accident) that if you do not show a warrant would be issued. For the most part a regular citation (speeding, following too closely, etc) if the citation is not paid or they contest and do not show, then a suspension of the license would be done and not a warrant.

It means you've been charged....arrested is more like being cuffed and taken into custody.
And yes, if you fail to appear to contest (unless you plead guilty), then a warrant can be issued for your arrest.

If you fail to appear, they will issue a warrant. If you get pulled over again with that warrant, then you will go to jail.
