A child who had diarreah and vomiting probably has the stomach flu, but don't be 100% sure of that. They should be treated 3-5 days before being sent back to school and if the problem lasts any longer than 6 days, take them to a doctor or just straight to the emergency room. But since she cana't keep anything down, and this is her vevry first time being sick this way, AND she is only five, if this goes on any longer than 24 hours go to a pediatrician. If it stops, go to a pediatrician in 48-72 hours to see what happened to her, it probably is the stomach flu, you should hope so ( not to worry you ).

Do not give her any thing for at least an hour after she has been vomiting, then only start with a teaspoon of water, not pedialyte that is too strong. Do a teaspoon every 15 mins. When she has handled that for a few hours the go to a cup of water do not let them drink it fast. As long as they get an ounce in a hour you will be fine. When she seems to be handling the water then fo to the pedialyte. There is a very bad flu going aroung that last more the 3 days. I had my son in who is 11 years old for dehydration, but he was unable to take in anything. If her eyes start to look sunken and her voice becomes more quiet, I would then call your doc, she maybe dehydrating then. When in doubt call your MD

Here in the U.S.A PEOPLE IS BEING TREATED FOR AN INTESTINAL VIRUS, WHICH THIS SOUNDS LIKE WHAT YOUR LITTLE GIRL COULD BE EXPERIENCING,DO NOT TREAT HER NO MORE THAN TWO DAYS-WHY PEDIALITE IS GOOD TO KEEP THE FLUIDS IN HER AND TO PREVENT HER FROM DEHYDRATING IF SHE CAN KEEP ANY OF IT DOWN,IF SHE IS NOT BETTER BY EVENING TIME GET ON THE PHONE FIRST THING IN THE MORNING AND LET THE DOCTOR KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON SHE MAY NEED SOME ANTIBIOTICS TO FIGHT OFF THE INFECTIOAL VIRUS,GOOD-LUCK AND I HOPE YOUR BABY GIRL IS BACK TO HERSELF REAL SOON, I KNOW IT IS NO FUN TO HAVE A SICK CHILD IN THE HOUSE.

bless her two days i would say as long as shes still drinking if fluids are coming up and you feel nothing is staying down then she must see a doctor have him come to the home if not take her to the hospital ,,but if you get some of her flesh in your finger and thumb and sqeeze it and its not elasticaly flipping back to normal ,and it stays there or moves back too slowly then shes dehydrated and needs help now ,,,are her lips dry is she weeing if not ,phone the doc straight away,,,,,the other way is to measure what she drink ,and make sure she sick in a bowl and measure it again if the same amount is coming back she needs the hospital,as she will go down hill fast ,this can be very dangerous ,is this a bug or food poisning ?bug could last 48 hours ,,,,have you had it or has she been near someone with it ,,,?if not what has she eaten as the hospital will want to know this ,,,take a sample of her sick with you they may want to test it ,,,i so hope shes better soon ,we all send her our love ,,kat

Anytime a child has diarrhea and/or is vomiting, a call to the pediatrician is definitely in order! They will tell you what to do and how long to wait to bring her in, if at all. Obviously fluid loss is the main concern here so make sure she's drinking enough. But definitely call your doctor. They always have someone on call.

That a really long time for a child to be doing that...you really might want to do two things..keeping making sure she has some fluids in her..water..orange juice and such..and now is the time you call a doctor she could have a stomach virus..or she could be going through a little cold..either way it can only help if you take her to a doctor
Good luck

She has never been sick before wow... Is she looking dehydrated? Does she have any energy to play with anything? Is she keeping anything down now that it has been several hours?
If she is playing and not looking dehydrated, wait. If she isn't looking good, go with what your gut tells you. You are her mother and you know her best, call the doctor. If it is nothing oh well, you wasted a call, but if it is something, you got it before she got to sick. It is better to be over cautious then not.

Sounds like it might just be something she ate since she has no fever. Try to keep her hydrated and if it doesn't slow down within the next hour or two give your doctor's answering service a call and check with them.

If she can't even keep the pedialite down, and especially if she is having diarrhea also, I would take her in to be evaluated. Better safe than sorry, and little people can get dehydrated very quickly.

not sure of your location but we are in Houston area and it is going around bad here and it is fast attacking. my daughter had it for 4 days and my husband and i got it and we both only had it for 24 hours. my niece had it for 24 hours and my mom had it for 6 days. it is hitting had and fast. diarrhea and vomiting. give her lots of clear liquids and the only thing our doctor is let it take its own course nothing they can do unless she gets dehydrated then take her to the hospital immediatly. none of us ran fever my daughter even would play like normal only stoping long enough to throw up or go to the restroom .good luck use lots of lysol to keep the rest of the family from getting it.
