we all have a terminal illness its called life.
taking matters into your own hands after a doctor has told you a reasonable time line for the end of your life is not different then doing so at any other time.
science and data collection are at the point now where a person can input there parents ages when they died and there grandparents along with the causes of death and your own life style and conditions and you will get a time line that is reasonable for predicting your own time of death.
so there you have it with the except of murder and accidental death we are all now reasonably informed as to the length of time before this terminal illness called life ends.
information from a doctor regarding when you will die is subjective as no doctor and no about of science will tell a person when they will die exactly. a person dies when the same will that put the breath of life in you decides to stop doing it no sooner and no later. unless sin is involved meaning self killing or killing by others. thou shall not kill

I think if I was told I had a terminal illness I would try to spend as much time as possible with my family and loved ones, doing the things I enjoy, as long as I could. I don't think it's right to take your own life, but in some cases I believe there is such a thing as more pain than you can bear, so I wouldn't be too harsh a judge on someone like that.

To your main question the answer is NO.First of all I would get a second opinion from another doctor a specialist in what is wrong with you would be my choice. And then if there is really no chance of a cure I would have a heart to heart talk with my family and friends. Then I would make sure all my affairs are in order and if you have any special requests for what happens to your body after you die like donating organs or being cremated versus burial that they are put in writing and if you have assets drawing up a will will make sure that your requests are honored.A lawyer that handles wills will be able to handle all of your needs and help your family get through the probate court process. And once everything is all set.LIVE EACH AND EVERY DAY TO THE FULLEST DO EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED TO DO DON'T LEAVE ONE THING OUT.And then when the end time comes gather your family and friends around you and relive all the highlights of your life until you die. Make it special for you and them.

I would consider doing my own research on the disease or illness they say I have and even try to come up with a cure for it myself. There are lots of things a person can (and has done) do to stop an illness where it is and sometimes get rid of it. It is referred to as a "miracle" or w/e but it is happening a lot more often that I don't know if it is much of a miracle now. The movie "Lorenzo's Oil" is about a family who fights their little son's disease...I would recommend that movie to anyone.
Besides that, I would think about what is important in my life (not money) and put my whole soul into that,. such as: God, family, friends, etc. Not be afraid to take chances (but not do anything stupid) and have fun

No I would not conider taking matters into my own hands. You just take it one day at a time. Depending on what your religious beliefs, ending it your way would be a sin. So please don't do anything. I would make the best of every day. Do things I haven't done, talk to people I haven't seen in a long time. I would sit back and look at all the beauty around me.

well to be told this isnt nice ,but it is your life and to be forwarned is giving you a chance to put right any wrong that you have done ,and to tell your loved ones who much you care for them and also it give you time to give people the things you want them to have ,,,you would have to come to terms with this in your own way ,,,i was close to it once and i was surprised at how easy i acepted it ,,,,but then i got better ,,,i was given a second chance ,i was lucky ,not all are ,,,,,its amaizing what strengh we all have when we need it and this is no different ,with love we can all fight wrong doings,,,,some never get this time to put things as they would have them ,their lives are taken too fast or unexspectadly ,i would not fear death, not now ,,i would make it good for the time i have left ,,say what needs to be said ,give what needs to be given ,and die with love around me ,,,,,,these are the things you wil be remembred for most of all,,,,,but to accept you fate is to acept peace,,,,,,,,,,

I brought my dad to my home to die... so I have seen it first hand... I was his only caretaker... I know if it wasn't for the doctors giving him unlimited amount of pain medication... he would have dealt with it himself somehow... his pain was unbareable... if I was in the pain he was in and wasn't able to be medicated properly to help with stand the pain... yes there is no doubt I would... He had lung cancer that had spread to his brain...
