Then read this scripture and tell me how close you think we are to Armageddon, now:

"(1) But know this, that in the last days, critical times hard to deal with will be here. (2) For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, (3) having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, (4) betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, (5) having a form of Godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away."

- 2 Timothy 3:1-5

indeed. It is extremely close.

It's funny, some of the comments above. Well, not funny. Sorta sad. Those statements in themself are a part of the prophecy of 2 Peter 3. That ones would say: "Where is this promised presence of his?"

What fact escapes those notice; is that Jesus said the things must "shortly take place" in Revelation? Vs. 10 states that the entire books signs were for the "Lords Day" - or the Last Days of this system of things. When that began, THEN the time would be short.

As the Master himself said, God wisely hid such things from "the intellectual ones" They can't find it. Because they don't wish to, so the very clear message of how the end will play out, is completely lost to them. The don't want to look at the interlacing web of prophecies. Honest, humble people do, and do the very hard work of research what "the spirit says to the congregations" and are rewarded by a glimpse of a "web" so intricate, so astoundingly precise, so exact . . .

It is absolutely mind-numbing.

We live in that time now. And that is fantastic news for honest and humble people; who will soon be rewarded by the ushering in of the effects of the Heavenly Government, here on earth. The day and the hour we may not know. But the prophecy of the ONE sign (Not many little signs, but one composite sign) of Matthew 24, and myriads of other prophecies regarding the Last Days . . .

are almost completely fulfilled. A few more to go, and we'll be ready to step into that New World.

All things must come to an end. However that scripture was beleived to be true even back then. A close study of Scripture will find the early beleivers thought they were living in the very last days.

The Hebrew writer beleived this confidently when he wrote in Hebrews chapter 1 verse 1-2 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways,(2) but in these LAST DAYS he has spoken to us by his Son.

I agree. Yes, these things have been going on for a long time, but if you really want to get right down to the heart of the matter, try reading Revelations. In order to understand this book of the Bible, you need to understand what has lead up to this book. John goes into detail events that will happen in the end days. The wars, the attitudes of men, the weather patterns, etc.. Are we not experiencing wars and rumors of wars more often than in the past centuries? Are we not experiencing more strange weather than has ever taken place?

I do not agree (and it is not disrespectful to do so). You may want to look into it further. Men have been claiming these conditions have been met for a very, very long time. Look at the late nineteenth century. Or just after the first or second world wars. Remember, when Jesus spoke, he told us that the end would be seen before the people he spoke to passed on. Unless you think there are people running around in their mid thousands, it isn't very likely.

Well the end of the world has been predicted for thousands of years. Michael Drosnin said in his book (the bible code) that it would end in 2006, and that was a bestseller. Forgive me if I don't go round making preparations for armageddon (although if it does happen and all the xians fly to heaven, I'll be putting in an early request for your possessions).

:P

The bible and Chritians have been saying it's 'end times' for two thousand frikin years.

You could have said that at any time in history: especially the roman empire...

There is a lot more complex crap going on today than what you listed.

It just means we have advanced.

Christians are better behaved now than they ever were all through history.
IT was not so long ago most Christian wackjobs were roasting people alive and stringing up girls for being a "witch" and torturing people for really dumb things.

As long as Christianity, as well as several of the other "ultimate truths", have as their end and gleefully sought after goal, the END OF THE WORLD, and as long as they believe that their rights are being violated if they are denied the opportunity to use the coercive power of the state to shove their god down every ones throat, you will have to put up with us being in your face. Why should we abandon a forum where we can let you know that you will not be allowed to carry out the silly "End Times" rubbish that you seem to forget would include the rest of us.

Yes it is coming....eventually. I wouldn't stress about it too much. In general, you wouldn't want a doctor to tell you the exact week you were going to die, so why would you want the scriptures (which were written by men) to tell you when your time here is over?
