I had a back surgery in January, 06. Lumbar disk 5 was herniated and part of it was removed. 1 month and a half ago I began having strong back pains like a pulled muscle. I had bi-lateral sacrilliac joint injections about 4 wks. ago. Now I'm having constant pain in glut area, calf and numbness in bottom of foot. What could this be?

There could be some pressure on a nerve. Call your doctor. It definately needs to be heard by your doctor.

It sounds like sciatica, if it is a shooting pain down the leg. Her problem is probable a pitched nerve. Motrin or Aleve ( anti-inflammatory) will help . A muscle relaxer will help. If she doesn't have anything else on hand tell her to take some Pamprin.. it has only muscle relaxer available over the counter Try some Theragesic rub or similar muscle rub. Alternate with heat and ice . She should lay down with her legs elevated with pillows. Ice will numb her pain but do 15 minute intervals w/ice or heat. She should go to her Doctor. The MRI of her spine will show exactly what part of her spine is involved. Most likely the L5 or lower.. Rest Rest Rest

sounds like ur syatic nerve is pinched a bit.. when i had my back surgery i slipped 2 disks and the nerve was pinched inbetween the two so i had constant pain with numbness in my right foot up into my knee.. try a heating pad and sit on it... the warmer heat will loosen that muscle also talk to your doc about possibly getting into physical therapy they can do a electro shock therapy that doesn't hurt it actaully feels quite good along with a deep tissue massage that will loosen up the muscles and let that nerve go.. i wish u the best i know how painful that can be

A friend of mine at work had something similar going on. He had to have a second surgery to have more of the disc removed. He was told that eventually he will have to have all of it removed and have his vertebrates fused or have an artificial disc put in.
