The pups don't need mum's milk at all at this stage, as long as your are feeding them a good quality puppy food 5 - 6 times daily. This gradual loss of interest in suckling is normal and allows mum's milk to start to dry up, decreasing the chances of mastitis (which could happen if they stopped feeding suddenly). Remember that pups should stay with thier mother and siblings until 8 weeks old in order to learn social skills and avoid behavioural problems later on.

weigh the puppies every day, keep a chart so you can monitor each one and make sure they are putting weight on every single day. if they are staying the same weight or losing then you do need to supplement them with some powdered puppy milk.
It is possible that mom is running low on milk but at 4 weeks its safe enough to be weaning them from her. pedigree chum make a formula which is like sloppy porridge, excellent for your hungry pups, ask at your pet shop/vets for it, its sold in a plastic box.
Keep them on this formula for about 2 weeks then from 6-8 weeks very gradually start adding soaked and mashed complete puppy biscuits, by the time they are 8 weeks they can be completely weaned onto the biscuits and its plain sailing from there. :)
It also might be a good idea to get mom checked out at the vets, if she goes off the pups completely, as there could be a number of reasons she's not happy about feeding.

At this stage the milk is the most sustaining. The pups can go hours without nursing. I wouldnt encourage her because she is beginning to wean. At this time you should start introducing the pups to solid food. Get some dry food and wet it down. Feed them two to three times a day. Increase amounts and feedings in the next two to three weeks until they wean naturally.

How many puppies in the litter, and how many meals are you giving the mother a day. She should be on 3 good meals a day with high protien, these puppies are growing fast and she needs a good diet to sustain them. Dont make her stay with the puppies all the time now, let her have time out and she should ask to go in with them quite frequently. Also whilst weaning the puppies they should be on a good brand of puppy food for large dogs, plus I always give mine lactol as a meal a couple of times a day, dont give ordinary milk as dogs cant digest this, it has to be puppy milk. As they get older she will get fed up with them but they need milk for their growing. Get the puppies registered if you are going to and start putting adverts out by 7 weeks. They can go at 9 weeks after thier first injections. Also you must worm mother and puppies, get this from the vet.

That is way way too young! You picked the wrong breeder/store to get him from! They shouldn't be separated from their litter until 3-4 months to build up the social skills and good behaviors. Return him and see if you can get him back at a later time if you want. If you don't he wont learn how to play and be more likely to nip at you while playing, not knowing it will hurt. When they are with their litter they learn that biting to hard hurts. If you really want a purebreed though I suggest going to a rottweiler rescue near you to find one, they will work with you to find you the perfect dog.

Mum will be losing interest due to the sharpness of the puppies teeth, it is understandable. You can get baby milk replacements for puppies. Royal Canin is the brand I used on my pups, and it worked very well. It would benefit the pups if you could get them on something like this even for another couple of weeks.
Good luck!

Mum does know best, but have you cut the puppies' nails? They can grow really sharp at this age & scratch their poor mum red raw when feeding.

Leave it to her. She knows best and will feed them when she feels like it. They should not be force to feed pups or not feed them.

I work for a animal shelter take my advice. The mom should still be breat feeding if not you have to go to a pet store and buy a speacil kind of milk in the pet department and you buy a baby kitten bottle or whatever and you have to feed them. So make sure they eat their innocent little pups.
always: mimi good luck!
