cheap is such an unattractive quality in friends and mates.. if they can't afford it they shldn't go out or nurse the few drinks they are willing to buy. sheesh!! very classless!!
if a friend is going thru a tuff time and thats not the norm, all shld overlook it and help them get out of the house, help pick up their spirits. but if its ongoing, stop buying their drinks when you buy a round or tell them, dude, i need $20 for your drinks. they'll get the hint (=

I had a bunch of friends that were like this, and they were quick to catch on to all my attempts to delay getting the good grog. from my bar. I started locking the bar room completely and pretending I had lost the keys that I stashed somewhere in the backyard, and a result of a clean backyard in minutes, to acting too drunk to comprehend their wants (although not as drunk as made out). When you get a chance to meet a "free loader", give him his marching orders and be clear on as to why. Then next time, the friend will consider his input next time the occasion arises. :)

I think we all have friends like that. But the bottle line is if he's your "FRIEND" then you have to look out for him. It's not mandatory for you all to pay his way. But maybe he's the comedian in the guy or your wingman. Just look out for the guy and pay his way after that what friends are for. Just make sure to get your rounds of drinks before there all gone.

we usually always buy our own drinks. it keeps us from having to deal with this situation. and most of us all drink different things.

No, I don't desire to make it a habit of said behavior so I also wouldn't make it a habit to financially support those who do.
