One day I won't feel the desire to eat anything and I won't be hungry all day; I will just forget about eating and the next I will be so hungry and not miss a meal, I'll just feel like I want to eat everything. Why is this? I also can't get out of the habit of a " midnight snack " everynight. I'm not overweight, I'm 5'3 and I weigh 140 lbs. I just would like to shed a few pounds and I would like to know what's going on with my appetite. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

You don't say how old you are, but if you are between puberty and menopause, chances are the swings have more to do with emotional factors than anything else. As I'm sure you have noticed by now, how you are feeling emotionally affects just about everything about how you are feeling physically. And we are not just talking body image or appetite here. If you are feeling depressed, you get less exercise, you stop caring about your posture, etc. You go down hill all over, not just in your mind.

But the opposite is also true. Get your emotional/spiritual needs in proper perspective, and you will feel better physically, both for immediate things like brain chemistry, but for having that better attitude getting you more active physically and more "pumped up" to respond to activities.

Or as the Beatles said long ago, "All You Need is Love." They also said "I Get By With a Little Help from My Friends," because it is not just the male/female couples they mean when they sing about Love. They mean all forms of human love. And maybe humans and their pets, as well. Puppy love is a real thing, after all.
