Always personalize it with the gift-giver's name. Always mention what the gift is, and then how you will be able to enjoy it. And end with some pleasantry. For instance:
Dear Aunt Helen,
Thank you so much for the gift certificate. I'm sure I'll be able to find a movie or CD I've wanted to buy. It was really nice of you to remember me.
Have a Happy New Year.
Your nephew,
Sam

Express how u feel in words .If the gifts made u happy and u r already enjoying the gifts then write it in the letter also include the names of the gifts that where given and at the end say and thank u again ever so much and I hope you have had as good as a holiday as I have had.

The message of thanks is the entire reason why you are writing and can range from one to quite a few paragraphs. If you aren’t too good with words, I would suggest that you utilize greetings cards so that you can more aptly get your message across. Still, if it is your desire to write your own message, remember that the size of the message is not as important as accurately conveying your appreciation to the card’s recipient.
Below is a simple formula that you can follow that should help make the writing of your message a little bit easier.

Gratitude Statement:
This is a one to two sentence statement where you are thanking the recipient for what you have received from them. Do not simply write a statement such as “Thanks for the gift”, but be very specific. If you received a green vase with roses on it, your statement should say so. If you are thanking someone for allowing you to be his or her houseguest, reference the time as well (e.g., Thank you for inviting me into your home on Memorial Day Weekend). In this way, the recipient is well aware that you are thankful for their consideration and you understand the significance of their gift. It is hard to receive appreciation from a note that only has "Thanks" scribbled across the front, and nothing conveys indifference to a gift more than the appearance of not being able to recall what you've received.

Elaboration:
In this portion of the message, you are explaining to the recipient your appreciation and/or utilization of their gift. Again, please do not simply say “Thank You” and end your message there. This part of your message will re-emphasize how much you understand the intended usage of what you’ve been given. This may only be one line, especially if you are sending a greeting card, but it is still important.

Closing Statement:
This is optional and, again, totally dependent on whether or not you’re sending a greeting card or a message on stationery. This statement usually consists of reiterating your appreciation for the thoughtfulness of the recipient.

It needn't be anything complex but be specific. Include mention of the gift ("thank you for the gloves" versus "thank you for the present") and if you have a special use for them include that ("Thank you for the gloves. I'm going skiing with friends in January and they are just what I needed")

Let them know you appreciate the gift and being thought of during the holidays and wish them a happy new year.

mention what they gave you and how much you like it,

If it's money, they tell them what you are planning to do with the money: save it, use it towards an item, or use it to buy an item.

if it's a "use" oriented gift, what you will use it for or how much you will enjoy using the gift.

End with a second thank you and a wish for a happy new year or some other appropriate wish for the future.

i keep mine nice and short....here's an example:

dear grandma,
thanks for the gift card. i had fun shopping with it. i bought two music cd's and a book.
i love you,
samantha

basically my thank you's follow a formula pretty much like this:

greeting
express thanks
state what the gift was and how it will be used
closing

if i had to write out a long note, then nobody'd ever get a thank you from me!
happy new year!

Personalize it, add a sentence or too about how thoughtful the gift was and what it meant to you / how you will use or enjoy the gift. Just be sincere and genuine - speak from the heart :)

When someone presents you with something, they either think u need it or they just want to give u something what they think will be of use to you. Just include a line saying that their gift was of some use by giving a one liner instance, i am sure they will feel appreciated.

Just tell the giver thank you, how much you appreciate it and why you like it so much, or why it will be of good use to you.

A simple "thank you" is more important than the eloquence of your message.

A heartfelt thank you of appreciation for the item (name the item) and that you appreciate them thinking of you during this time.
