judging by the number of affairs that married people have these days, it looks like there are many women who are attracted to married men and vice versa!

it's hard to answer your second question coz different people are driven by different motivations. but here are a few suggestions:

1. perhaps they are bored in their marriages and looking for a side distraction
2. perhaps their spouse is busy and have no time for them so they seek attention elsewhere
3. perhaps they are having problems in their relationship
4. perhaps they are habitual philanderers
5. perhaps they want to leave their marriage but can't
6. perhaps after all these years, they and their spouse are like room-mates
7. perhaps they are going through a mid-life crisis.
8. perhaps they happen to be going through a crisis and feel vulnerable
9. perhaps they happen to be attracted to that paricular man/woman

btw, there is a difference between attraction and acting on that feeling.

Well I must say that there are quite a few women who would slide neatly into this category. The reason why being can differ, however, overall - women who are attracted are possibly in awe of what his wife has. Allow me to expand: She wants what he has given her (the wife); this maybe security, children, or a range of other things. He has displayed the fact that he will commit and she wants that from him.she is thinking that he is already 'house trained', so her work would be minimal if he was to leave his wife.

On the other hand, some women chase married men for the challenge - just to see who wins the game, so to speak. Sad but very true.

Single women also tend to feel empathy for married men who do not receive enough intimacy in their married relationship. So she thinks the void can be filled by her.

For whatever reason, morally it's not right, but then again, neither is the price of petrol. I guess this type of thing has been going on for centuries and the pattern will continue for more centuries to come.

I hope this has helped you.

Love and joy

Beth

Yes.
As to "why" I think attraction has nothing to do with if the men are married or not. Sometimes you can learn the men from what they seek in women or what kind of women they are with, and these may turn other women on.
Take Bill Clinton for example. He protected his mother from his alcoholic step father when he was young, he pursued and married a strong woman (intelligent, better family brought-up background than himself, etc.), and he tinkered with an intern-level, not so good-looking, not so thin Lewinski. Of course, he may have other flings. All these make a wide spectrum, if not any type, of woman think he is their "Bill". Therefore, these woman can't help but fancy him.

Women and men get attracted to each other for various reasons that may have nothing to do with the marital status.
Some reasons why women could be attracted to married men could be:
The men are older, more mature, financially more stable.
The men are more caring and nurturing if they already have a wife and family.
The men are more attractive, because they are forbidden fruit and belong to someone else.
The situation is more adventurous and dangerous and so more exciting.
The women can have fun and a fling with less demand for committment.

The very few that are claim they like married men because there can be "no ties", and they like the "mystery" of the relationship. You know, not getting caught, and things like that. Being the other woman. AND they usually get all the goods, too. Materialistically and, well, you know the rest....

Of course.

I can be attracted to a man who is married, but that does not mean I'll try to pursue a relationship with him.
It'll pretty much be a thought of "Oh, he looks good, oh well, he's married" and that's it.

I believe people who seek married partners are afraid of committment so they seek people who are already committed - so there is no chance of permanancy.
