In the new testament Jesus said that divorse (and therefore remarriage) could be granted if the partner had committed adultary.
I am divorsed and hope one day to get remarried.

Okay, yes, there is stuff on divorce. I'll get back to ya on that. I'll modify my answer once I collect the data. the bible does say that divorce is wrong, it's like breaking a promise, but as to most rules and laws, there are exceptions. Okay you know what, every body says something different, I personally believe when you say the vows you are sworn to your husband. And unless he is continually cheating on you (note: continually, once can be forgiven, well so can continually, but still you knnow he's gonna be adulterous if he does more than once) or beating you emotionally or physically. Otherwise, get marital counceling. If you like I can get you some expert advice from some experts :). Why don't you contact me (little_monkey74@yahoo.com) and then that way I can get you hooked up and possibly get you in touch with a counselor in your area. If you are asking because a friend wants divorced and you are not directly involoved, then I can get you some advice to pass along

Mark 10 verses -11-12 explains this. There has to be a valid marriage in the first place.

As far as I'm aware the only biblical grounds for divorce are if the other person commits adultery.

The books of Ezra and Nehemiah (last chapters of each if memory presently serves me correctly), tells the Israelites to put away foreign women, even if they have children.

You can swap your wife for a goat as long as thy neighbour does not like back at Babel's second son. Or something.
