Traffic accidents have always been a major cause for concern within the military. They have instituted driving education courses required for all under 25 drivers in order to get a pass for the bases. And they have instituted the '72' hour liberty starting at noon on Fridays to prevent tired servicemen from trying to drive late into the night to get home before a holiday.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if the numbers were greater. But Americans seem to find it more acceptable to have high traffic fatality rates, at younger ages, then to have any deaths due to combat.

Yes, but one thing people must consider is the number of casualties is down in modern war due to advances in medical treatment. The injury rate and I mean extreme injuries and those who survive as many do now these days need to be taken in to account. With the IED's many men are comming home with missing limbs, traumatic brain injuries etc. I consider them casualties of war also. US Army Vet!!!!

I don't know, but we can say with absolute certainty there were a whole lot more murders on the streets in America than there were American soldiers killed in Iraq.
