Hi Everyone, I wanted to ask a question about pregnancy in cats; I took my siamese female to a breeder 6weeks ago, she didn't get pregnant, then I took her a second time & the breeder witnessed the two cats mating..

It's been 14 days since that happened & I left her there for 5days to make sure she gets pregnant.

But is it possible that cats are like humans when it comes to pregnancy????
can cats mate & not get pregnant??!?

**both siamese cats are over a year old & are very healthy .
So whats the deal?

I Wouldn't think of getting my cat pregnant if I'm gonna end up throwing her kittens on the street!! :|
to all who commented on the shelter/homeless cat bull, plz stick to the question! :|

Does her cat have a proven track record? Male cats can throw blanks also. And female cats can have similar problems.Any mammal has the ability to have something go wrong in the process. And just like humans, sometimes babies aren't made the first or second time. And are you sure the cat isn't pregnant? It is still early. I believe it takes a little longer than this to know

I would expect, yes, but in the overall, I would not advise you to breed your cats, if you can't find homes for them you can't just dump them on the streets or give them to the shelter because you don't know for a fact that they will get good homes. Its just bringing more cats into the world when lots of them are roaming the streets looking for good homes. And I hope you aren't doing this so you can sell the kittens to get money. So if you re doing this so you can have more cats to play with or just have, get a kitten from a shelter, so if you are a good owner to your cats, and I think you are, you can give a perfectly good cat a good home. And also, SPRAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS for the same reasoning I gave you before. You would just be bringing more cats into the world when their are millions of cats already out there.

Yes, and they can even experience false pregnancies. Did you know that 25% pets that end up in a shelter (and put to sleep) are purebred?
Do you realize that for every 1 person born, there are 7 puppies and kittens
born? At best, 1 will find a forever home.
And don't forget, that every "Free-to-good-home" litter takes homes away
from animals already at the shelter.

STOP letting your pets; or your friends, relatives or co-workers pets
contribute to the problem.
If you love animals, it is NOT ENOUGH to merely say "My pets are fixed".
Vow to educate and enable others to fix their pets too.
Spaying just 1 female dog or cat, will prevent 6 others from ending up in a
shelter the following year.
Please be part of the solution, NOT the problem!
Thank you. ^..^

cats are like humans only a few times they'll get pregnant and those times are when they enjoy it. cats like to get to know each other so the cat that mated with her you should let them to spend like 2 weeks together at least before making them mate. (My old cat mated with the neighbors cat but we were in that house for about 5 years. )

Cats can definatly mate and not get pregnant. Sometimes it takes many tries for them to conceive.

Yes - we are all mammals, and can have the same infertility problems.
