This is a tough one (obviously).

Get as much postsecondary education as you can. College is cool, because you can actually explore SEVERAL disciplines and see if they pique your interest.

EDUCATION IS FREEDOM. This means that you will have more options with regard to a career switch if you have a substantial postsecondary education, should your chosen career turn out to be a dog, OR should you outgrow your chosen career over time (this really DOES happen quite a bit in the USA). It's amazing how many places really DON'T care what your degree is in (just that you have one ...)

Take a career aptitude test at your school's career center/library/counseling dept. If this is not an option, go online and check out the U.S. Dept of Labor's website for more resources.

Search YAHOO for a career aptitude test. Some of the sites are not free, but several other sites are free.

Good Luck with your career search!

The honest answer is nobody does. Start with your interests and what you enjoy doing and then seek out a career that is a good match. The good thing is, most careers are broad and you'd probably be fine in almost anything. Take law for example, you can go to trials where lives hang in the balance and you interact with hundreds of people or perform patent searches which is technical research, or become a prosecuter and work with law enfrocement.

What I'm trying to illustrate is, don't be afraid to pick a career. Once you start, you can then get better insight as to which area is the best fot for you and then move to that area.

If a job is not a right fit, you can change careers, it's easier when you are young but many people are finding they are forced into early retirement and start a new career at that point.

Next time, ask the question but list your interests and dislikes and you may get some better suggestions. Personally, I'd sugest law (I'm actually and engineer). There will always be a demand for legal services and you can do many things in any city. Best of luck to you!

When choosing a career you go for what you like and are good at.

You have to take into consideration what you really want to do. A good paying job is usually important, unless your father is Bill Gates or something. You should also base your choice on what you like to do.
