There are a few cultural differences between US and Canada that have some effect on the lifestyle of the average Canadian teenager.
1) Most basic health care is free for Canadians, so medical bills don't overwhelm as many Canadian families
2) University and college isn't as expensive as it is for Americans. Although, it's not free. And full scholarships and grants aren't nearly as available in Canada.
3) The drinking age in Canada is 18 or 19, not 21.
4) The culture is slightly more secular in Canada.
5) Most (but not all) of Canada is north of the mainland US. The climate is therefore typically colder. That influences some of the styles of dress.
6) The population of Canada is slightly more than one-tenth of the US. So the culture in Canada is strongly influenced by the populous neighbor to the south.
7) Canadian laws are generally not as strict about private lifestyle choices.
8) There is no death penalty in Canada.
9) There is no registration for the draft in Canada.
Canada has incarcerated youth, poverty, drug busts, teen pregnancy, parties, shopping malls, cars, laws, slums, parks, television, celebrities, music, racist police, honest police, cell phones, monster homes, trailer parks, suburbs, rural areas, microwaves, basketball, football and most things that America has.

That depends mostly on which part of Canada you are talking about... teenagers in Southern Ontario are alot different than teenagers in Northern Ontario... I should know I lived in both Southern and Northern Ontario as a teen and the differences are staggering, everything from clothing to cliques to weekend activities.. for example, Southern Ontario has football and sports jocks, Northern Ontario has only skidoo jocks, down south the parties are almost always attended by the police, up north we have bush parties where there are no police, down south teens dont go hunting, ice fishing, skidooing and risk roading(all including alcohol) on the weekend up north we do. Also there are alot more different ethnicities in southern ontario and that makes things different too.. You wouldnt think 500 miles makes much difference but it does, slang, drugs, alcohol, clothes, attitudes, recreation all are completely different in each place, and that is only within the Province of Ontario, each Canadian Province has a different teenage lifestyle. Specify which part of Canada you want to know about and you will get a better answer.

I am Canadian and I hate to say this: but see "typical life of an american teenager"! Music, clubbing, drinking under age, movies, dating, randomly creating havoc and for girls: Shopping! In between this, of course, are parents telling you to do homework, pressure to get into college or university and part time jobs so that you can have enough money to live the typical lifestyle.
