I use to think any cold dark place was good to store nuts but it's not so if there's a lot. I know from experience some nuts can go hard impossible to eat if kept long in a cold dark place even if they are still in the shell. Keep them in refrigerator if you eat nuts regularly. If you just eat them occasionally like just on holidays or for cooking then freeze them!

The key is an air tight container. Nuts have lots of oils which will attract odors in the air which make them go rancid faster. Keep them in a cannister in a pantry or other cool spot and they should last a while. There is nothing wrong with freezing them, again in ziploc or other air tight container.

Nuts contain oils, so leaving them at room temperature could cause the oil to spoil. The best way to preserve the nuts is to put them in the freezer - they can last a long time if frozen. Even if you have not opened the bag, I would suggest freexing them if you have no intention of using them in the near future

You can freeze the nuts and they will be ok. Store them in a Tuppa ware container for even longer lasting and stay fresh nuts.

How many did you buy? Can you eat them right away?
If not ,I keep mine in zip/lock bag, in a jar inside refrigerator. I have kept them for as long as a year.

you can keep them pretty much anywhere and they will be fine...you don't need to freeze them. I would just probably stick them in a zip lock and put them in a cupboard or something

My mom buys alot of nuts all the time, so we keep them in the freezer because otherwise they would rot. It's also good because when we take them out, they are cold and they taste good.

Nuts are perishables (will go rancid) and should be frozen until needed. (unless they are to be used quickly, then a cool, dry place and air tight packaging is fine)
