Dear Trumahab, I lived in Ft Lauderdale and my favorite bush/tree in our yard was an Oleander.
It has very fragrant flowers and come in different colors. Like any hedge you will have to keep it trimmed to the size you like. Some people may tell you Bamboo, but unless you buy the kind that is NON INVASIVE, the bamboo will spread to areas of your yard you do'nt want it in. Go window shopping at your local nurseries and look around, you have an advantage in S.E. Fl. because you can have flowers year round. Good Luck, what am I saying you already have good luck, your in a beautiful part of the U.S.

Nature Girl has a good answer, but remember Oleander is poisonous. Be careful if pets or children will be near it at any time.

It would be best planted just inside a fence for safety.
