Not very actually. When I was pregnant they wouldn't take me in for my first appointment till I was 10 weeks along because that's when they can first hear the baby's heartbeat (most times). You should, however, call your doctor and set up an appointment because you will need some blood work and will probably talk with a nurse about your health past and the father's health past. And as long as you have an idea of when you had your last period, you shouldn't need an ultrasound right away. Good luck!!

Some OB's don't see their patients until they are 8 weeks. I know both time I was pregnant with my two boys I was never seen before 8 weeks. I would, if you haven't already, call your OB's office and make an appointment to be seen. They may have you come right in...and they may have you wait another week. Sometimes they will have you come in a couple weeks before to fill out paper work on the family medical history of both sides (so I would suggest having your significant other go with you.) They will also have you do a blood test...just to be sure. Oh and don't expect to get an ultrasound...a lot of doctors offices only do 1 ultrasound...and thats between 14 & 18 weeks...when you can find out the gender; unless you think or they think there is a problem. When you do go in for your exam...they will check for the heartbeat, but they will tell you not to worry if they can't find it right away...it maybe to soon. Hope this helps...and CONGRATS on your pregnancy!! Hope you have a wonderful pregnancy.

Most doctors will not even see you until you are ten weeks along. They just tell you to buy an over the counter prenatal vitamin and wait until you are ten weeks to come in. I think this is good. Recently I had a miscarriage at around 10 weeks. However, my doc new it was coming by the ultrasound and had me monitored weekly from 4-10 weeks. The stress of all of that was so hard on my husband and I. I wish I hadn't seen a doctor at all until ten weeks because the miscarriage would have already taken place and we weren't sitting and waiting for it to happen.

You and baby are probably both fine, but prenatal care is IMPORTANT. I suggest making an apointment for the next week or two. You're still early on, so you've really only missed one appointment. Many many people don't even find out until 2-6 weeks gestation, so don't think 7 weeks is abnormal. Just call your doctor up Tuesday and make yourself an appointment!

Good luck and Happy New Year!

Doctors usually prefer to see their pregnant patients at week 6-8.
So you are not too late yet.

I suggest making an appointment now, because who knows how soon an appointment will be available.

Note that some early tests are performed as early as 11 weeks -- if I recall correctly, and I'd better recall correctly, because I am at the end of my 7th week!

Have a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Most people are at least 4-8 weeks pregnant when they figure it out, so please don't panic that you have not been to the doctor yet. However, once you do know you are pregnant, you should contact your ob/gyn. You and your baby need to be healthy and safe. Congrats on the pregnancy and good luck with everything :)

many OBs wont see patients who are expecting until 8 to 10 weeks gestation. Do you already have an appt lined up? Have you been eating healthy and taking care of yourself? These are both necessary, so get on it if not. Otherwise, no cause for concern, congratulations and good luck!!!!
