I agree we should help, but why do people call us bullies if we go into a country to help people and if we don't then we are heartless b@stards?

because all the goods that developing countries have are stolen by the developed countries.
the car that you have has its iron from africa, its rubber from india, its oil from the middle east.
the jewelery you are wearing comes from africa and latin america.
the chocolate you are eating comes from brazil and africa.

So rather than eating a lot and then spending much money on diets, give this food to needy people, then you will live thin and they will have a chance to live.

Here in america, the rich and famous like to have the world focus on the very poverished and poor nations. Sadly, in America there are people starving and homeless at an alarming rate! They feel if the focus is on an other country then everyone here in America must be doing fine. The Rich and the Famous Americans contribute very little to see or too really help those in need. They like giving you all a false since or untrue preception into American society.

I think we are making a mistake in several ways. First is that we have homeless and starving here that need our help. They should be helped before we travle around the world helping others.

The second is that we are giving money to governments who all too often do not use it for the well being of the people and all too often use it to line their pockets. It is very common for those same people to later become an enemy, such as Saddam Hussien. We need to look at how and why we help people so people, not governments recieve the help.

We are locked together in one world economy.

Because Westerners want cheap goods (of course), someone has to make them for really not very much money on the other side of the world.

Because we want to protect our farmers - we stop poor countries exporting their food into out markets.

We are all linked together. For that reason we have responsbilities to one an other.

Also.... it is to our advantage to stop extreme poverty in the world. As the REAL cause of terrorism is poverty and resentment of Western wealth.

America creates much of the world wide poverty with it's trade policies (as many western countries do).

The US is criticised because it's help comes with conditions or, often, with invasion

The United States should be concerned because that is what decent people do. Turning our backs on world hunger would be tantamount to murder. We have so much, if there is something we can do to help, don't you think we should?

Because those people are human beings, and your humanity (if it exists at all) should urge you to help these people who are not as priviliged or fortunate as we are.
