The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man was the cartoon mascot of the fictitious Stay Puft Corporation which produced marshmallows in the movie Ghostbusters. He was a parody of the real-life Pillsbury Doughboy and slightly resembles Bibendum, the Michelin tire man, as well.

While there IS an American brand of Marshmallow called "Sta- Puft" as far as I know there is no "Sta-Puft Marshmallow Man", at least not one which looked so much like "The Michelin Man" in Ghostbusters. The writers of the movie invented the "Sta-Puft" character, to avoid any lawsuits over unfair use of a real, existing trademark. No marshmallow company would allow their symbol to be used to destroy New York City, This way, no lawsuits.
