Social psychology is, in many ways, a research field (whereas clinical psychology involves both research and practice). Ethics is particularly important in social psychology, then, so that one knows that experiments are conducted properly, which increases the reliability and validity of the results, and so that participants are treated properly when they agreed to engage in research.

If you are adequately qualified in a field you should be able to explore it within you own boundaries, taking responsibility for the consequence. Ethics only protect people that are incompetent at there job
