I used it for a bit, but then they wanted money to continue, so I moved to AVAST.

Good stuff just remember it's "BETA"
which means it's still in testing mode.
I tend to leave that to the Pro's to handle.
But it's reviews so far have all looked good and promising.
I run several other Microsoft security programs which
are incorporated in the Defender Program and they seem to work
just fine with no problems so far after almost a year now.
Always feel free to run other scans and tests
using alternate products and services to double check on
the ones you alread run and use but be sure to follow
directions such as disabling one firewall/antivirus etc
before running another.
Happy New Year :o)

I have been using WD beta for a few months already and has recently downloaded the real version. It automatically removed the beta version. It's free for those with original XP. I like it because it is very good at detecting changes to your computer settings done by other softwares. It even notifies you of its own changes. It is especially useful when you are installing softwares. It warns you if the software that you are installing is making changes to your computer settings. It asks you whether to allow or block the changes. If I find a program is making making dangerous changes especially to IE settings and I'm not sure whether the program can be trusted I will stop the installation.... I also like its feature of listing out the start up, running and internet connected programs according to company names and publishers together with their icons. So it's easy to identify the programs. It had helped me to identify and remove suspicious programs. .. Every few days I will check all the programs in WD. So far it has helped me keep my computer in good working condition..And it takes up only 9.2MB of hard disk space.

It is a decent for-free anti spy program. The nice thing about Defender is that it also offers a "real-time" resident protection againest spyware which is rare among the free programs of this type.
Try it at the price you have nothing to lose!

Yes, I have it and it is pretty much good for a free anti-spyware. But its real-protection is yet to be perfect. But I don't depend on it as the only anti-spyware. I have AdAware, SpyBot and AVG anti-spyware as well.

I use it. My mate is an IT professional and he recommended it to me. I am WELL happy with it. Set it up to auto update and it does all the work. If you don't scan for a few days it even reminds you to do so.
