Me and my girlfriend have decided on naming are child Jaden and his middle name Anthony. we are young, both in are early 20s and love this name but both are parents dont like the name, (mainly hers) they say it sounds to girlish and it also sounds more of an african american childs name (we are both white). Now we disagree on both those ideas and really like this name but we just want opinions on the matter from people outside of the family. We chose the name because it sounds pretty cool for a boy and isnt a common name like James, David,Matthew,Ryan,etc... and that is what we wanted, something not so common. We really think they dont like it because it isnt a common name and they are older (in there 60s) so there idea of a good name is something like James, or Ryan, a name that is more heard of. And i have done a little resarch on the name and Jaden is used way more as a boys name then a girls so i really dont know. so if you have an opinion on this please let me know.

It isn't common?

You need to research again. Jaden is highly popular, and will rival James, David, Matthew, etc. in a few years.

My personal opinion? It's trendy, and boring, and I would never choose it for a child of mine.

Um...I hate to tell you this but Jaden is probably one of the most common names out there. I know because it is our last name (only spelled different). So, when I hear it my ears kind of perk up a bit. It seems to me that just about every other boy AND girl is named Jaden these days. There had to be at least three kids in our neighborhood with that name. We've moved since but I hear the name all over the place. It isn't a terrible name. It is a nice sounding name. AndI wouldn't say it is an ethnic name. I've heard it for both whtie and african american kids. But it is currently a very trendy name. The community we're in isn't all that big and yet there are many kids with that name. I was actually commenting recently that it was annoying that every kid seemed to have that name.

If this is your child...then you choose the name and don't worry about what everyone or anyone else thinks. Your folks got to choose a name for you and I doubt their folks stepped in to say what they liked or didn't like.

As for the name Jaden, in my opinion it does have a female sound to it, but so does so many other male names that could be female names.

Don't worry. Go with the one you like best. Jaden is cool. I've never heard of this name before. As for your folks, they'll get over it once the child is born and forget all about it. You're nice to include them though.

What about making his middle name, using one of your grandfather's names, or mix them some how, or put both your dad's names together somehow to make an unusual name and this will make both your folks happier. For instance, their names are Edward and Michael. The middle name could be Edael. Sorta weird idea, I know...but it may work? Just a though.

I was actually going to name my son Jaden Kyler until I found out I had a cuz named that. I ended up naming him Aeryn Kyler. Anyway dont pay attention to your parents , I dont mean them any disrespect but I have been through this too. Its your life and if you and your wife want to name him Jaden then more power to you. Its your child and you will be the one hollering it 100 times a day. Oh and Jaden or Jayden is a boys name, the girl version is Jayda. Good LucK and Congrats

i'm sorry to pay attention approximately your god daughter. using her call as a center call is a gorgeous theory.... Jaden is an extremely complicated call to tournament up. that is very easy to locate a center call for yet a usual call, extraordinarily with a cowboy experience is confusing... One decision may be to function a hyphenated center call or 2 center names to help the bypass.. How approximately: Wyatt Jaden-Lee Sawyer Jaden-Cade Tanner Jaden-James i admire Brody Jaden-Lee. Brody is the only call my husband and that i will the two agree on for a boy! :) different names with the comparable experience i admire are: Tucker Trevor Troy Phoenix Logan Cody Ross Cooper Bennett Brooks Take Care! I am sure someone has already told you that you should name your baby whatever the heck you want. Name him Optimus Prime if you like and everyone else's opinion be damned! But it sounds like you just want feedback on this particular name. I think Jaden sounds fine for a boy especially if you are going for different. As the father of two I can assure you when the baby is born her parents or your parents will be overjoyed with their grandchild whatever the name. Congrats!

I agree it sounds like a girl's name. It seems very popular these days, which means there may be tooooo many of them! I like that you respect your parents' opinion, that really nice. In the end, it's what you like and what you think a child will feel comfortable with growing up. What will help him feel confident. How about making it the middle name? Anthony for the first name? That's kind of a nice combination with both the names you like!

I love that name, I told myself that if I had a baby boy I was going to name him Jayden. But for some reason, this year with all the boys born around the people I know, most of the boys were named Jayden. So I wouldn't choose that name anymore, but I still love that name.

I don't like Jaden myself. It just sounds "made up" like someone stuck on "n" on the end of "Jade", but hey thats just me.

Its also very popular at the moment - far more popular for baby boys than David or James!!!

You can use an established name but don't have to go for a "common" one like David, John etc. I called my baby son Arthur in honour of the Celtic legend of King Arthur. Thats very unusual for a baby these days and he will surely be the only Arthur at school!

But its up to you what you cally our baby. Don't let people tell you what to do.
