First of all, a "fadeaway" shot is when you lean away from the basket when you shoot. You seem to "fade" backwards. That's why they calll it that.

The baseline is the "out of bounds" line at each end of the court, not the sides.

So, McGrady shot from near the baseline (out-of-bounds line where the net is) and he leaned away from the net while he shot.

I hope that helps.

A fadeaway from the baseline is when you are close to the baseline(the line of the out of bound boundary that's behind to the basket), and shot when you have to jump and leans or falls back to make the shot to create more space between the shooter and the defender and to avoid getting blocked.

I had to learn English as a second language too, I think watching basketball really helped, I hope it will help you too.

Fadeaway: A jump shot where the shooter falls away the opposite direction of the basket in order to create more space between he and the defender.

Baseline: The area near the backline (the boundary parallel to the basket).

well the baseline is the endline that marks out of bounds and a fade away shot is a shot in which the player jumps up in the air and falls/leans back away from the basket as he shoots, the shot typically occurs when the player is in a rush to shoot and is off balance or if the player is being guarded by a bigger defender

This was one of Michael Jordan's popular shots. It involves jumping away from the basket's direction while shooting the ball. This makes it more difficult to be blocked by your opponent.
