I expect that the sites we visit on the Internet in the privacy of our computer would tell us more.

Or the questions we ask and the questions we answer on Y!A.

But, your friend the postal worker has a point:

Nation, Mother Jones, American Prospect: yep, I'm very political and "progressive," but I also read American Conservative, I started out as an Eisenhower Democrat (that's another whole story), and I once actually voted for Richard Nixon ('way before you were born) and I would do the same thing again if it were 1960 again.

Sojourners, Christian Century: yep, I'm a liberal Christian who used to be a fundamentalist and sorta likes to keep up with his tradition (but who, truth be told, rarely reads either magazine).

Phi Delta Kappan, English Journal: yep, I've been an educator for lo! these many years, but now that I'm officially elderly and retired, I scan them more often than I read them

Orion: now, that's the one that tells you who I really am. I'll let you figure that one out . . . .

My youngest son, who is probably about your age, introduced me to it, and he's right: it's a gem.

If I had to limit myself to only one (it would be really hard giving up Nation and Mother Jones), I would probably choose Orion.

And how did I let National Geographic go? I think because I never had time to read it before I retired, but now I read somebody else's copy. Maybe . . . .

Now the real question is, Can a Weekly Standard subscriber tolerate a Nation/Mother Jones reader on the same blog?

But the more important question right now (for an ESPN subscriber) is, Can the Gators beat Ohio State and, thus, win the two major national NCAA championships in one 12-month period?

Go Gators!
