First of all, ferrets are NOT wild animals. They have been domesticated since before the cat was. Ferrets were used as ratters in ancient egypt until the cat came along. ( Ferrets are related to wild animals like the mink, weasel, etc, and will kill rodents due to instinct)
The level of care a ferret needs is relative to a dog or cat. They need regular interaction, and out of cage time. They can be litter trained and the pan needs to be cleaned daily, they wont GO in it if its dirty. They require special food, i fed high protein kitten food since it was cheaper than ferret food and had the same ingredients. Ferrets are carnivores, so they dont need fruit and veggies, tho a piece of banana for a treat is welcome. You do not want to beth the ferrets often, i bathed mine about once every 2-3 months... it dries out thier skin... and then the skin makes more of the musty oils, giving the ferret its smell.
Ferrets are great for apartments and if in a house, i would limit their roaming area to a room or 2. They can get under furniture and even up into the furniture by chewing or clawing the lining off the couch or bed box springs. They like to hide things in their special places, mine have taken socks, shirts, toys, keys, even my friends inhaler! They are like cats in that they are independent and litter/cage trained, but a lot like dogs in that they are loyal to you and will follow your schedule.
Ferrets are still illegal in some places of the US, including NYC and all of CA, because people think that they are wild animals. In fact if a ferret escaped outside, it would most likely become a meal for a predator ( hawk, cat, etc) before it would do any harm. Ferrets have very fast metabolisms, so they need to eat about every 3 hours. I have heard that the CA law is so ferrets dont get out, form wild feral groups and decimate the local rabbit populations... NOT!!!
As for the monkeys.. i know that are illegal in most areas, and are never pets. The ones that people have are usually trained to be assistant animals for the disabled. Those minkeys are highly trained and can still go bad. they need food and diapers, etc, and they eat a variety of foods.
hope this helps...

Personally, I don't think either make great pets. My sister's ferret smells even when it was descented and the cage cleaned daily. It also killed my pet bird while I was in college and the door to my room was left open by someone. Monkeys are more developed mentally than most animals and behavioral and personality problems as well as emotional issues from discipline or loneliness if you go away can be huge. They live longer. It would probably be difficult to find a new home for a monkey with a behavior problem. I am sure they are difficult to clean up after as well. How about a dog or a nice bunny?

I have absolutly no idea what a capuchin monkey is, but i know what having a ferret is like.
Make sure that you do your resurch because you want to end up with the pet you'll most enjoy being around. Think about costs, size of house/apartment.
Ferrots are great companions but they stink really bad. (dont try to wash them. it puts their oder glands into overdrive! lol) one of mine used to bite me heaps , but after lots of training they get the hint. my ferrots have all been REALY hard to toilet train, so thats somthing youll have to think about to. personly, i sort of over ferrets but i cant realy say which you should get because i dont know anything about the capuchin monkey. All i can say is, do your resurch and i think it will make the decision for you. good luck and all the best! = P

First of all, monkeys are not pets. Monkeys are very prone to diseases, and can be quite aggressive too.
Ferrets are actually also wild animals, carnivorous, but they can be trained. I suggest you do some research on the net first. Learn something about the animal's behaviour and needs.
A pet is not only for Christmas, but for a lifetime...
Good luck by choosing your pet.

I certainly would not get the monkey cause these monkeys have been known to go crazy and bite people. my cousin had one and it almost bit her ear off and what piece he did bite off he spat back in her face . It was a disgusting little creature and pooped all over the place . her mother eventually made her get rid of it . good luck to you and god bless.
