Personally, I don't think either make great pets. My sister's ferret smells even when it was descented and the cage cleaned daily. It also killed my pet bird while I was in college and the door to my room was left open by someone. Monkeys are more developed mentally than most animals and behavioral and personality problems as well as emotional issues from discipline or loneliness if you go away can be huge. They live longer. It would probably be difficult to find a new home for a monkey with a behavior problem. I am sure they are difficult to clean up after as well. How about a dog or a nice bunny?

My grandmother had a monkey and so did my husband growing up and both would never have one again. My husbands monkey would poo in his hand and throw it at you....charming. Monkeys of any type are very intelligent AND unpredictable. Ferrits on the other hand can be litter trained if you work at it but they do have an odor to them. It really isn't that bad especially if you keep their areas and them clean. Do you really have time to change dipers on a capuchin? And if you're thinking it will be in a cage all the time and you just have to clean that you really don't need one. They have to interact just like toddlers. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Ferret. Capuchin monkeys can go beserk on you when they get older. They are the least demosticated of the two and Many are angry at the fact monkeys are used for pets.
