MASTER GARDENER TO THE RESCUE.

Dwarf citrus are wonderful trees. Most put out 2/3 as much fruit in half the space of standard size citrus. You save time, space, water, plant food etc.

Compaired to the full sized trees, dwarf citrus very proportionately.

Today, almost every popular full sized citrus come in dwarf forms. Pick a citrus you personally like and check at a good local nursery and see if they have what you like in stock or will order for you.

Here in the north we don't have citrus but we have dwarf peaches, pears, apples , and others. They have a huge advantage over regular size trees. They produce fruit at a younger age. they are easier to grow. They produce almost as much fruit in less space. They require less spraying for pests and insects. I suspect many of these benefits apply to dwarf citrus also. Contacting local orchards could direct you to sources to buy trees.

If good means tasty, dwarfs are just good as full-size. If good is quantity, they do produce less fruit. I like the Washington orange. It gives a 12 month crop.

For fun, I have a Ponderosa lemon. It's fruit gets to be as large as small grapefruit. Big thick rind makes good candied lemon rind. Flavor is mild, for good lemonade.
