The Greeks gave democracy to the world. Not US.
We are democratic when it comes to our own citizens. With foreigners in the area of immigration and other international policies we may be a most un-democratic nation. A super-power does not consider itself equal with other ordinary Nations so how could it have fair and just international policies? But UN must become more democratic internationally and it should respect rather than rule the international organizations.

Saddam's crimes were commited in Iraq, and as such he shuold be tried and judged by his peers. The biggest reason for this is that the fallen dictator is now dead. If he were taken to America for trial and found guilty he would be allowed to appeal for years; living on the government teat, like so many undesirables. So... for the next 20-30 years every dolt with a bomb will hijack something and demand the release of Saddam Sometimes...dead is better.
If he were tride by a, God help us, an international group he may have walked on the charges. Remember many in the UN were abusing the 'oil for food' plan. The odds of his conspirators being on the panel were far too likely. And IF he were convicted... he would have received life. So, for the next 20-40 years every dolt with a bomb will hijack something and demand the release of Saddam Sometimes...dead is better.

He did it. He commited the crime, he was sentenced, and now he's dead. Swift and efficient. America could learn from this, instead of spending 20-100,000 dollars a year per prisoner waiting to die. Save money. Double check the DNA and cllean out death row tomorrow.

Hey Blah!
SH was removed by the US because the UN wouldn't get off its brain and enforce the resolutions and conditions laid on Iraq after Operation: Desert Storm. The US did what the UN was too impotent to do. The UN talks, but the US walks.

The mother of democracy was Greece. You may have heard of it.

The US cannot have anything to do with the international Criminal Court because Bush withdrew recognition of it.

He did this to protect administration officials who would have been charged with war crimes, including himself.

The problem with that would have been with the Iraqi People ..
They would never have allowed it...Remember Saddam was tried by Iraqis, this is not to say America did not have influence but it was an Iraqi court !

USA didn't try Saddam. He was tried by his own country for his crimes against them.

I think the fact that the USA didn't kill him on the spot instead of removing him from that fox hole and arresting him says a whole lot about human rights.

No, because his crimes, for the most part, were not international. It may be easy to forgive the death of a man if he was not your brother, your father, your son, your cousin, or your husband!!

NO. It was not up to the USA to take him to trial. It had to be done by the Iraqi court.

Nope. Saddam's crimes were against the Iraqi people, therefore it would be best that they try him themselves.
