You are really showing a lot of ignorance for the British constitution.
The Queen ( note spelt with a capital letter) is Head of State for as long as She lives. She reigns by the "Grace of God". When She was Crowned Queen, She undertook sacred vows to God and was anointed (like a priest). She will never resign or abdicate. She is also the "Supreme Governor on Earth" of the Church of England.
Scrap them all?? Only possible by utter turmoil, bloody revolution and massacre. The Queen is Head of State, of Established Church, Head of the Legal System, Head of the Armed Forces. Who or what could overturn the Monarchy?

So who do you want as head of state then?
President Blair (the Queen & Co would be cheaper).
Elton John (swap one old queen for another)
Rupert Murdoch (he's been after the job for years)
Me (I'd have you all in the stocks, but at least I know all the answers)
The present system means we've still got someone who can sack the politicians. Change it and you'll have a politician in charge - and as America has repeatedly shown the daftest candidate always becomes president.

No! The Queen wont abdicate because of her uncle. She sees the job has her sacred duty, to carry out until she dies. The monarchy do alot of good for the country and brings alot of revenue into the national coffers, more than any elected person could, who would pay to see where Tony Blair or Gordon Brown lived and grew up, I live near Grantham and I'm not interested in seeing where Margaret Thatcher lived.

Yes. The concept of a hereditary monarchy is outdated and undemocratic (although I do giggle when people say that Charles isn't fit to be King and shouldn't be allowed - they really don't get the hereditary bit, do they?)
Replace them with an elected president, who is just a figurehead and has no political powers. If it ends up being a politician, then that's our stupid fault for electing them!
It would need to be someone who we can trust to represent us honestly and decently, without political favour.
My suggestion.......... Michael Palin.
Everybody likes him!
